Ferenz - Thanks so much for the news about the second egg and the nice pictures! (I can't see the cam at the Israel nest because of my computer setup.)

I can't get it either :egg10:

Ferenz - Great catch of the first egg for Aston! I watched this nest for a bit this morning, but there was still just one egg there. (I was also watching the Denmark nest in the morning to see if there was a second egg, but there was still only one. We should see a second egg here on April 6 for sure . . . and there should be a third egg at the Israel nest.)

P.S. I just posted an updated Kestrel Nesting Calendar, but I'm sure there will be more updates to be made tomorrow . . . and the day after . . . and the day after.

Forum member Bosuil reports some interesting observations on the Lesser Kestrel nests (#3, #10, and #16) in Israel . . .

"It's great to watch them, very diff from our Common Kestrels in Europe - Males are sharing incubation more proportionally than Comm. Kestrels, one Male (of the nest 16) started breeding even before female. Very careful. He's also the one who slept closely with his partner and even sneaked back into the nest after the first egg was laid (usually, male Less K 's aren't tolerated in the nest anymore after laying has started ... ) Super interested (or jealous?) male - hope to find time to post some snapshots but still need to organise those for our own forum. So many birds so little time."

Note: Kestrel Nesting Calendar has been updated with latest information from Ferenz and Bosuil!

Lesser Kestrels in Elyakim, Israel: clip from first egg layed on March 31, in nest # 16 and prey transfer:

There's 4 eggs now in this nest, 2 in nest # 3 and 1 in nest # 10 (as of this evening),
not sure what has happened in the last hours (the latter 2 were also due today),

but for this strange action of female in nest # 3

Thanks for the great snapshots of the Denmark and Aston nests!

Rebecca and Ciro are back and up and running: http://www.birdcam.it/index.php?act=cam&cam=2 . There's action around the nest but no eggs as yet. :egg5: :danceegg:

http://www.webcamnatura.com/indexOnUk.php - this is the index page of another Italian organisation which has cams on the nests of various birds, including a kestrel nest. There are already two eggs.
