Image So, today the male delivered a rabbit, small one, maybe bunny, to the nest. It lay at the female feet and as she went to grab it, it got up, ran back between her legs. She's trying to grab it and it comes around front again and jumps into the middle of the eaglets.

Then it comes out of the eaglet pile toward the cam. (rabbit's face can be seen bottom of the next image, just under the eaglet's head, and to the right.)

The female is still trying to get it and the male jumps down from who knows where....the bunny is "vocalizing".

Then the female dispatches and it's (thankfully) over.

Video: Fresh Fish Dinner at Decorah

A fresh fish! Mom begins feeding the eaglets. Two of them are right up front and the third? In the back, perhaps day-dreaming... Dad leaves and flies back. Mom aims a peck at him!

Recorded at 6:20 PM local time

1st egg: 2/23
2nd egg: 2/26
3rd egg: 3/2
1st hatch: 4/1
2nd hatch: 4/3
3rd hatch: 4/6

I did get a video of it. It's uncomfortable to listen to. I didn't upload it. Some things are better left unsaid.

I uploaded this one instead. The eaglets are so full, they can't even bother when the male tries to feed them. :egg6:

Time to go out on a limb and speculate just for fun.

The first eaglet hatched is male.
The second eaglet hatched is definitely female.
The last eaglet hatched is probably female.
