The new Common Kestrel cam in Israel at Petah Tikva is now live! Right now, the female is sitting on three eggs . . .

Thanks to Bosuil for letting the rest of us know about this kestrel nest! Here's the direct link to the cam:



Note: Unlike the other Israeli cams, I had no problem getting to this cam. Clicking the link took me to a page where I didn't have to do anything - after a couple of seconds, the QuickTime player on my Mac opened with a live view of the nest. I'm assuming that it work in a similar way for PC's.

ruud - Thanks for posting that really cute video from the Helmond nest. It was so funny seeing the female jump on the male and then push him off the eggs.

richardoe - Great news from Groningen about the first egg and such beautiful pictures of the kestrel pair. Thanks for posting!

Bosuil - Thanks for sending me new information about the nesting calendar. It is sad, however, to see the Wilderfeld nest with 3 eggs abandoned. I loved seeing the female kestrel's sweet face at that nest.

Hatches at 2 Israeli Lesser Kestrel nests - no time to post yesterday or tomorrow so forgive me for giving just a ref. to our Dutch site for clips and snapshots:



There might be 3 in #3 and 3 in # 16 by now - hard to check! Snapshots/counts welcome!
