Hello BCAW. Just checking in to let you know that the male adult eagle was
at NBG this morning in the area of the nest. I hope to be fortunate enough to
be there when he is. I'll let you know when I know. Have a good weekend.

I found Dad this morning. He later moved to the Statuary Vista area.
The last two shots are from there. You can't see it clearly here but he has lost a middle
tail feather. He was with another eagle yesterday morning not all that
far from where he was this morning. The other eagle quickly departed that scene
as he/she is not accustomed to human interaction. Dad left just as fast. These
shots are from this morning.

Thanks, Jim, for the wonderful pictures of dad this morning!

I'm glad to hear that you saw him with another eagle. I wonder if he's found a potential new mate already? I certainly hope so, since all the time I've known him he's had a female beside him. (And I do think he'd be quite a catch in eagle terms.)

kathyjuk - This link will take you to the Wildlife Center of Virgina's NBG eaglet page. There you can check on the latest eaglet updates (e.g., little NV accidentally fell out of the nest yesterday, but he was retrieved and put back). And there's also a link here to go to the eaglet's cam. (When I checked the cam a few minutes ago, all three were enjoying the sun and the view into the woods from their nest.)

Thank you Catbird. Now saved link in my favourites. Looks like one of them is getting some good wing flapping exercise just now.

Jim, I'm just catching up here. As always, I'm so glad you continue to visit the gardens and see Dad. The missing tail feather sure is obvious when you point it out! Thanks!

Eaglets bring Chase Community Giving grant to Wildlife Center of Virginia

Three baby eaglets plus thousands of web-cam fans equal $200,000.
