Wow! Thanks, SGB, for the great picture of the Flevo parent and chicks.

Italy - Rebecca & Cirro

The 4th (and last) egg hatched yesterday. (June 2 Update: I should have written "The 5th (and last) egg hatched yesterday." Thanks to Warbler for pointing that out!)

Image

Germany - Kempton

The first 3 eggs have hatched, most likely late last night or early this morning.

Thanks to Ametista who circled the chicks for the count as we, too, were unsure how many had hatched

Thanks, Warbler, for posting the correction and the picture of the 5 chicks at Rebecca and Cirro's nest!

P.S. I've updated the Kestrel Nesting Calendar to indicate 5 chicks (and to indicate 5 eggs instead of the 4 that were previously noted).

Bad news - little Rosinchen is dead. The greater chicks killed the youngest.

Returning Bianca fed the dead chick to the others - they say at falken-förmchen.

It's so sad for the cute fighter

I'm very sorry to hear this. Ferenz I am also so sorry for you, :cryinggirl: I don't think I've seen such a loving and dedicated person with all the Kestrel cameras as you are you are everywhere and put such love and kindness into all you pictures its just like they are all your little children.

Look at that video of the chaotic 1st feed.
The hungry siblings were so fearce and stole the mouse that Bianca brought in.
Bianca had to fight to getting the mouse back and continuing the feed. No chance for weak Rosinchen.
It seems that in the last 2-3 days Bianca & Börn didn't find enough food for all 6 chicks

Oh, such sad news about the littlest chick at the Muttenz nest! Thanks, Ferenz, for letting us know about this and for posting pictures of the "wild gang" at Muttenz vs. the "quiet gang" at Lausen. What a contrast!

And such happy news from Groningen about the first 2 chicks! Thanks Richardoe.

And finally, thanks Bosuil for posting those cute videos from the Israel nest #3 and from the Petah-Tikva nest with the two adopted chicks fighting over a lizard. I had to laugh when one of the adopted chicks almost pushed the parent over a couple of times!
