Subject: PEPSI REFRESH EVERYTHING CHALLENGE
Flown Today: 54.5: LaSalle Co. to Livingston Co. Total Miles 239.9

Earlier this year Pepsi launched the Pepsi Refresh Project. People were asked to submit an “idea” so the public could vote on the idea(s) they feel is worthy of Pepsi’s support. Each cycle Pepsi gives away $200,000 to deserving charities in Canada and we’ve been trying each month to get into the approved projects and were finally notified last Thursday that we made the cut!

Now YOU can help! We need you to VOTE and spread the word to all your friends… Once you register you have 10 votes per day, however, only one vote per idea. Naturally, we’d like you to vote everyday for Operation Migration. Should you decide to use your remaining nine votes, please vote for other ideas that aren’t competing with ours. So, any other ideas you feel are worthy of your vote, except those in the “planet” category, or in the running for the same $25k that we are.

This current voting cycle began today at noon and continues to December 31st so we have sixty-one days to collect votes for Operation Migration. But we need to vote every day, and we need you to help spread the news. Use Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, blog about it, email blasts, heck, shout it from the rooftops – we need your help!

Here's the link to visit us on the Pepsi Refresh Everything site - or why not copy and paste it everywhere you can!?

Five of the Class of 2010 juvenile Whooping Cranes, #1, 5, 6, 8 & 10, successfully migrated to St. Mark's NWR in Florida yesterday, Dec. 15, witnessed by 900 onlookers! They flew 1,113.9 miles total!

The Chassahowitzka Five, #3, 9, 15, 16 & 17, were suppose to complete their migration today, but are being held up by weather conditions.

Crane #2, a male, exhibited flight problems from the start. It was determined he suffered a torn tendon in his wing and was subsequently returned to Patuxent, Maryland, where he is adjusting to humans and will live a nice, comfortable life.

Ahhh ...... now I find the page for Operation Migration!!

After being grounded by the FAA ... OM is finally able to resume their trek!

Date: January 9, 2012 Reporter: David Sakrison, Director, OM Board of Directors
Subject: FAA GRANTS WAIVER Location: Ripon, WI

We learned late this afternoon that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had granted Operation Migration a one-time temporary exemption to allow its pilots to finish the 2011-2012 crane migration. The waiver extends through the end of March.

A statement released by the FAA on Monday afternoon said in part: “Because the operation is in ‘mid-migration,’ the FAA is granting a one-time exemption so the migration can be completed. The FAA will work with Operation Migration to develop a more comprehensive, long-term solution.”

We appreciate the agency’s efforts on our behalf, and we thank everyone; supporters and the public for the overwhelming outpouring of support on behalf of Whooping cranes and Operation Migration.
