FIRST EGG LAID AT SEQUOYAH!!!!!

About a week ago I watched as this pair mated right on the nest (this was later than the mating that Mick captured, above -- what I saw happened just a few days ago, and I wasn't capturing at the time, darn it). I thought it was practice. Turns out, it was probably the real thing because about 3:50 CST today the female laid her first egg:



Alert Youtuber crayj46 caught the whole thing, she drops the egg sometime between 6:15 and 7:00 in the video, then at around 8:00 gives it a good roll, fusses around it for a while, then settles in for a good Sequoyah Shimmy around 11:55 in the video.

Way to go, crayj46!

This is a little early for this nest, first egg last year was around Christmas. Hatch in 35 days would be around January 21.
