I also checked and got 35° too. Someone is right there, just not on the egg.

Someone is finally on the egg... its really dark, but I think its mom...can't be sure.

I need to read up on the history of this nest and this pair. maybe this is normal for them... . or maybe they think they are peregrine falcons.

I'll try to get my pics posted later

What a surprising day! Hope laid her first egg and I got a glimpse during lunch at work, but was wishing for more! :tantrum2:

Thanks, everyone for the photos and talk here today. I could read a little at work but couldn't post. Was worried maybe egg not viable. Only time will tell!! As far as history of the nest, if you go back to kittenface's first post about the nest, there is an article you can read about history of the nest. And I saw a photo on their FB page that shows them with eaglets in 2010. We have to trust Hope and Valor know what they are doing. I've learned we are only observers... but I truly hope this will be a great nest year for them. :ohyes: The moderator of their FB page seems to think all is well with this pair!

I'll be peeking in from work again tomorrow. I drove my coworkers nuts talking about it today... I'll try to do the same tomorrow. :teehee:

Oh I can't even start to tell you how many people I have thinking I am totally nuts at work someone can be talking about how to cook a roast and some how I turn it into Eagles, Falcons Owls Osprey or Hawks and there is one girl that changed shifts cuz as she put it Jannice is crazy for those dam birds and I'm tired of hearing about it
Well I'll tell you if i would have known thats all it took to get her out I would have done it years ago :laugh2
Mt boss loves it she says I get very animated about them and as she said once to someone I get a glowy look and I'm at my happiest when I talk I have a couple girls there and yes girls 18 & 20 that want to go looking with me this spring

That one in Pinellas Park, FL looks like an osprey nest. Cute to see the little head sticking up from the ground level. (KF, you are so funny!)

Upper Mississippi

I do not know how long the egg has been left unattended (and I didn't stick around). .. could have been all night or could have been 5 seconds. . .who knows. Could be another egg today. . .we'll see.

Last photo before nightfall and mom on nest.

Image

They left the cam on tonight so am not getting anything done even though you can hardly see mom on nest. she hasn't left and it was raining (since 8pm cst) and windy and now snowing according to weather at Fulton, IL. :sosad If you dare to look, her head is at 9 o'clock. I keep hearing ?geese in the background...what are they doing up at night?
I attempted to keep track of the time spent on the nest and mom was there mostly and the egg was not uncovered for long periods. It was above freezing today. No new egg. Hope Hope does okay tonite. Can't help but worry about her. Before dark, Valor brought in food and didn't share. I don't understand that, but am learning more each day.

kittenface, I don't dare talk much about work, but I hear ya! Actually my residents just love watching the eagles... wish I had more time to let them watch, so I can watch too!! :hapdance:

have iPhone. Great idea to use tablet or laptop... trying to talk admin into letting me bring in laptop and hook it up to community room tv, won't happen. I could show them lots of eagles and other wildlife and domestic animal sites. They just love seeing all the activity. One wanted to "catch them and take them home". It's great to see them so interested!

Gotta get to bed so I can see how Hope is early in am.

The family :smilegirl:

Just seven minutes before this, Hope called for Valor, to relieve her I thought. When she left, he left with her. I noticed this yesterday, yet he was sitting a couple times during day. Emailed the admin of the SUMR FB page asking if this is typical of the pair. Thought I'd drive someone else crazy, since I'm not at work driving coworkers crazy! :hahah
