Ohhhhhhhhhh I'm so sorry!!!!!!!! That is just plain crazy!! How did it get itself all the way over there!! They must not have a very deep cup. :(

I just took this pic this morning.

I had so many happy photos to post today. Now I can hardly see through tears to post the end of what was such a nice day for Hope and her eaglets. SUMR said the rails were not that high on the side eaglet chose to climb. Hope kept looking around when she returned before settling on her only eaglet. :tissue:

Here are the photos I got of the events and the sweet climber.

Didn't say so, but Pam would have if able. Have to see what else is said on FB in am. You can read my frantic posts on Social Stream this evening and Pam was right there moving the cam to check. So sad... I really can't stand to see any living creature lost. :cryinggirl:

Thank you so much kittenface, PattiO, gigi, skybluegirl and everyone else for being here for me. I posted on RRP Forum and elf was so consoling too. This is what I wrote back to elf and just about sums it all up.

This is terribly sad, but.... as a rehabber volunteer, we often get hawks, owls etc. [our facility cannot accomodate eagles and the amount of space they require] who have fallen from their nests. It is quite possible that this little one is lower in the tree and mom is tending and feeding. I don't want to provide false hope, but it is not certain that the little one perished. I know I am keeping my talons crossed and saying a little prayer to St. Francis.

First, sorry skygirlblue for 'transposing' your name last night!

Second, thank you gigi for your prayers and thoughts! Two ground reports today made no mention of sighting the fallen eaglet. One mentioned an active goose nest directly below the eagle nest.

Third, thank you to those who dropped by SS chat today to say hi. I know it is a busy time in all the nests we watch.

So I spent most of the day watching and worrying about Hope and valor's remaining eaglet. I'm happy to report lil' e is tucked safely under Mom tonight. :girlyes:

The day began with baby e climbing a ways up the nest... but was well fed throughout the day, looks twice as big and its sibling imprinted curiousity. :nailbite:

One climb found lil' e biting the tail of leftovers. Hope and Valor were present at the nest more than I've seen before, they hollowed out the bowl more and 'buried' lil' e in it, but the little bit eventually climbed to the top and sat by the largest branch when mom nudged he/she back to the nest bowl. While rearranging cribrails, Hope hot-footed it to avoid stepping on the baby. Valor helped with rearranging, laying a stick over baby, and later dragging a fish from one spot to another and displacing twigs onto the baby. :valbug:

A first: Valor fed the baby!! twice!! All in all, it was a good day... getting through it, holding my breath and quieting my racing heart, was another. :valheart:

Don't you ever apologize for not being around more! You've always been here for my special eagle family and I know you're at the nest in spirit. :thumbup

There's so much going on at all the nests... I'm glad you'll have a couple days off work to relax and do what you want. :girlyes:

Not good news. Lil one in cribrails
Lil ne has climbed to same area as other eaglet and is stuck between cribrails. No Hope or Valor there that I could see. Cam is offair now. Last photo b4 cam off. :cryinggirl:

wskrsnwings, no need to apologize. We are here for you and wish we could ease your sadness. I don't really understand why both eaglets went over the edge. Just so tragic. When I last looked Mom was sitting as if brooding and then the cam went out.
