my time seems limited and I cannot get to all thee sites but I want to thank everyone here.

I have watched eagles for years and this is the best cam for getting a look into the life of an eagle.

Such closeups of the births and the feeds and the antics of the adorable kids.
I know all the hours some of you have spent and it is appreciated

Highlights from today. All the newbies on this site are so upset about #1 picking on #2. They come on and ask if he is dead yet. Its hard to understand that its normal newborn behavior if you haven't seen it before. Boy are they cute though :girlluv:

We have certainly received rave reviews for the zooming here. Two great cam operators, including sgb, are making that happen. Mick's video's have been the highlights of everyone's day.

Great pictures

It is hard to see them peck at each other but if there is enough food, they soon stop. Most parents make sure one is fed and then feed the other.

First couple of years I monitored eagles, I would be in tears, but you got used to it. Sometimes comical. Sometimes in some nests it appears vicious. Depends again on food supply.

Wish I had the time to watch all the sites, but again Kudos here :valheart: :valheart: :valheart:

This nest site and all involved with the cams and recording the action is quickly becoming a favorite of many. Applause to all of you for investing so many hours to educate others. :bravo

:bonnet: :congrats What a great site...SGB, Obxbarb, Mick...you are all doing such a fantastic job! The "tweets" have been singing praises to all of you! I have it on alot while I am doing other things, and it is wonderful, I am so hooked! I do keep up with NBG's drama this year, but this site is so good, the chatters keep it clean and friendly, mods doing such great jobs, the zooming, and answering informatively, and then there is always Dr Watts on fridays! I read the transcripts from the ones I had missed and it was wonderful. Love that children and schools can watch and learn too...Kudos to all of you for your hard work, it has paid off I believe you are presently the #1 eagle site! :girlyes:

I cant tell you how many great scaps Ive gotten from your zooming! And Im sure in 3 wks the new viewers so worried about R2 will see him kick R1's butt, and then theyll be best brothers forever after that LOL!

They are so cute looking up at us (I know, really mom n dad) I love their little faces. Such a treat for eagle lovers after the loss at Blackwater, and no eggs yet at NBG. CCB rocks! and its because of YOU GUYS!!!

:thumbup :hapdance: :girlluv:

Leelee. .thank you soooooooooooooo much.. and thanks for that great feedback. . Just really made my day.. and speaking of "the day". . This was the "family breakfast" this morning.. sorry it's so long, but I got so caught up with mom and dad, I forgot to stop the recorder. . just precious. .

Later this afternoon, Dad was baby sitting. . not sure what he had in mind with the straw, but gave us great fodder for hilarious comments and speculation!!!

I so agree with LeeLee. This is a great place to learn or learn more. The chatters for the most part are quick to learn and kind. Maybe mods are weeding out the troublemakers before they get on the chat. Mom sure is in charge of this nest and handles chicks very well.

Thank you both for you kind comments. It is an amazing group, both the mods and the chatters. The room has been really busy lately, but super fun. I'm so glad to hear how many are appreciating this.

Sgb, I missed that second episode. Do you think dad was trying to contain them? Don't think so dad.

They are the cutest. Yesterday Dad was so sweet feeding them, I loved it. My barn owls are getting jealous, this site has stole so much of my time!

You are all doing a great job there, many kudos being reported on the internet about it too, you all should feel really good about that and so should CCB!

what a great pic, LeeLee. .

You guys know I'm the proverbial worry wart. . but I am worried. . I can only say that here. . .gotta put on a "happy face"during chat. .

There is no food in the nest. .eaglets have not eaten since 8:30 this morning.. now. . that's not exactly a bad thing as they go all night (up to 12 hours) without food. . but, the hungrier R1 gets (and Dr. Watts thinks, female) the more aggressive she has become and is just beating up little R2. . R2 looks fine..Mom and dad are taking turns out and about. . but coming back empty-handed/taloned. .

OK. . thanks for letting me worry. . I'm sure everything will be fine.. . :nailbite:

Well I don't know when the food arrived, but the cute chicks are getting fed now! First R1 got fed, then R2 pushed to the front for some quality feeding time.

It was another exciting day SGB. Great to hear Dr Watts confirm he felt R1 was a female LOL. It is very easy to get caught up in everyone's fear of R2 not getting enough because of R1 pecking on him, and it did get ugly today. Still, all in all, both had full crops, and lets not forget - 2 fish (which are thick, big fish too) are plenty for these one week old eaglets, in one day. If they were a month old and still only had 2 fish for parents and eaglets, then I would be worrying about food.

The sibling rivalry is something that just happens, food or no food. R2 would peck even when R1 was asleep and food was not the issue there. I saw this at Blackwater 5 yrs ago and Lisa there explained and showed pics to prove the point. R1 will peck R2 until R2 learns to assume the submissive position, which sometimes even INCLUDES that R2 turn AWAY from R1 and put head down until R1 is finished eating. I watched Blackwater back then, and Lisa was right - the 2nd eaglet finally learned to turn his back to the first, and lower his head and WAIT until first was satisfied. Its just the way it is. The only thing I myself didnt like to see was that R2 was almost running AWAY from R1 around the nest, since R1 wouldnt stop. I just get scared then of him going off the edge! They really can move for little eaglets, I too, have never seen eaglets get around as fast and far at this age as these 2 do LOL

So we are all learning, by watching so close-up. Once again, you, obxbarb and Mick doing a great job, and Mick love all the videos, so want to mention that again too, thanks!

thanks for the comments and pics. .

I haven't been worried about R1's bully behavior (though it was extra brutal today), but more worried about lack of food the past several days. Right after I posed my. . um. .message. . :nailbite: :teehee: , food arrived. . :ohyes: thankfully!!! That was not a large fish. . but I'll take it. beats the fish heads that dad has been bringing in.. .yes. . Fish heads. . there haven't been complete fish. . so, there has been concern. .Dr. Watts said today that R1 is the most aggressive eaglet he has ever seen and feels sure its a female. R2's behavior is classic Pavlov. . its actually comical in it's own right. As soon as R1 attacks, R2 drops like a rock and plays possum. This usually stops R1's behavior. . except for today when you knew they were hungry. . R1 went after all body parts !!!

Hopefully, the fishing will improve!!! Wore me out watching all that!!

While I was on the phone with Dr. Watts, R1 was dragging R2 by the wing. I couldn't believe it! Neither could he. What an aggressive chick, for sure a female!
