Beautiful poem. . . :(

Quote:
WINORR- Wildlife In Need of Rescue and Rehabilitation
We are going to have a plaque made in honor and memory of Violet . we would like to bring her back to her park and place her at the tree where we were able to finally get her . We will let everyone know once we get all the details settled . We want to thank everyone with all our hearts for the amazing support and kind words . It has been very helpful to us . We are so heartbroken from all of this and it is comforting to know you all cared so much for Violet and for us . thank you again ,Cathy and Bobby

I read about this yesterday in the NY Times. I like the idea of a plaque. Glad she was able to successfully raise her chick.

Lincoln, of Pale Male blog, has written to the organization that banded Violet. He also tried to call them but didn't have a good communication.

I though Violet's injury was noticed in May 2011. Lincoln says it was Oct 2010.

wow...quite the letter indeed!!! I know that Lincoln is very passionate about the hawks, but wishing ill will to the bander who had the stroke was uncalled for, in my opinion...whew...

and my word, that Bobby didn't waste anytime getting a new girl friend!!! She's a beauty...and those pictures were just amazing. The picture of the Pefa on that round thing sure looked like a sub adult to me..since they were so persistent, I wonder if they have a nest in the area...hmmmmmmmmmmmm....maybe somebody on campus should check that out.

Pale Male’s Mate Lima Is Found Dead in Central Park

If only she had just smelled the rat, but no. Lima, the red-tailed hawk who had been the female in Pale Male’s life for more than a year, ate the rat.
That was on Saturday. On Sunday, Lincoln Karim, a wildlife photographer and Pale Male chronicler, found her dead under a tree in Central Park. He speculated that the rat had eaten poison that, in turn, poisoned her.

:cryinggirl: Oh that is just so sad. . .poor thing. . .must have been a dreadful death if it was poison. .

AS famous as Palemale is, I can't believe they have never put a cam on this nest. . must be the "neighbors". . if it were my penthouse, I'd have a cam in a heartbeat

We have confirmation there is an egg in the red-tailed hawks’ nest on the 12th floor ledge of New York University’s Bobst Library. The Hawk Cam will be live shortly.

The Hawk Cam Is Back for Another Season

By EMILY S. RUEB

cam link & rest of article:

The Hawk Cam is rolling once more.
We are now live from the 12th-floor window ledge of New York University’s Bobst Library overlooking Washington Square Park, where father hawk Bobby is back for another year, with his new mate, Rosie, and, as of Monday afternoon, two eggs.
