that was great KF. It is so nice that the chicks are bigger and moving around so we can get a good look at them. Thanks for making the video.

:thanku I especially appreciate it since I have trouble looking at any of the WE Energies nest cams.

First peregrine falcon chicks of season named, banded

Rosie, Brady and Honor are the names that a group of Cub Scouts gave to three peregrine falcon chicks at Valley Power Plant in Milwaukee. The scouts are from Rose Glen Elementary School in Waukesha and were present for the banding session with wildlife expert Greg Septon on May 17. The scouts selected Rosie after their school, Brady, for one of the scouts, and Honor.

Peregrine falcon chicks will be banded soon at other power plants, including Port Washington Generating Station, Oak Creek Power Plant and Pleasant Prairie Power Plant.
The chicks at Pleasant Prairie have attracted quite a following on our website. School groups from as far away as California have been monitoring the nesting activity, thanks to the live video stream from the nesting box webcam.

One is decidedly bigger than the others so you are probably right Susan!

Yesterday the Port Washington chicks were banded. One of the Indy Falconheads who now lives in Minnesota was present and will share pics later.
Here is her unofficial report:

"Sandy and I are still about 2 1/2 hours from home, but I wanted to update you all on the banding in Port Washington, WI.

Two males, two females.....names: Dr. J, Edna, Patricia, and Peeta (as in Hunger Games)

I got to hold down Patricia's wing while Greg drew the blood!!!!!

About thirty people in the room, various groups and individuals. I took lots of photos and will put an album together tomorrow after we pick up the pups in the morning! I went outside afterwards and took pictures of the nest box and Indy's mate, IVES. He is a handsome one...she has good taste. Her view is spectacular, directly overlooking Lake Michigan. And Port Washington is an adorable town with really nice people!

I am really sad to miss you all on Thursday. When Laura was here a few weeks ago, I told her I thought it would be so cool if banding took place while we were there for race weekend. We were off on timing by literally 24 hours...we arrive Friday:(. But know that we are thinking of you and missing everyone.

A big KAK-KAK to you all!

Your Fal-Pal,
Sylvia"

Thank you for posting the article KF.

I clearly remember the day that Indy Froona was banded and I was so envious of Sylvia as she held that beautiful chick. Sylvia was extremely patient, allowing me to take many pictures so I could post some of them here.

This is my favorite of this sassy little Froona with Sylvia's purple shirt in the background! Indy Froona has certainly honored her namesake well!
