This setting has always been one of my favorites.

Dad on guard

Then Mom returns and they both sit there together for quite awhile. Mom was softly vocalizing.

Our Maine babies are having a hard time. Bad weather, limited food deliveries ... and practically no parental care. #1, Eden, is being very brutal to Geddy and Geddy is getting no food. If any one observes any good feedings please post.

both parents have all but abandoned both babies it seems. Maine biologists will not intervene. Both still alive but for how long? Sad situation.

I am really disgusted by this. Thye finally have a successful nest , for awhile and for some reason , the adults are not attentive. something must be going on there and I would think the biologists would do something, since they have had such loyal Flowers. Eagles jut do not abandon young for no reason.

I have been worried d about this site for a few years now as it seems the people on the property do not respect these beautiful raptors and nothing is ever done.

I have finally said what I wanted to for a few years.

yes there is a lot of neighborhood noise, chain saws, people talking, it is a busy location. But they did successful nest here before so I'm wondering if it was something else like the bad storm we had, all that rain, wind, cold weather that has affected the fishing and the parents can only find enough to feed themselves and not the chicks. And it is a high density eagle area so the stress of other eagles nearby, possibly off cam battles for territory that are causing them to abandon the nest. But the chicks are still alive and miracles do happen and a parent might again start feeding.

I certainly hope so Macintosh. this site had snot been successful since 20007 , and we thought all human activity and off cam battles.

Always told not to say anything online as we might loose the cam. But sometimes, for the better of nature, if you loose a cam because you have done something psoitve , then that is what it is about

To tell you the truth, at this point, I think maybe they should turn this cam off. And that's VERY hard for me to admit. BRI is not vested in this nest anymore. Eagles are off the Endangered list so it's not a top priority for them. Their interests lie elsewhere. They won't fix/improve the cam ... and they are certainly not going to rescue these poor babies. :tissue:

I am so sorry to hear about how things are going here. BRI should be able to do something, and you would think after so many years of not having a brood, they would be vested. So sad.

lovethebabies recorded this right before dark ... she thinks Geddy slipped of the nest towards the end of the video. I'm not convinced of that ... but it's sad none the less. I don't think he was going to make it anyway. Not sure Eden will even make it at this point. :(

And sadly ... that video did indeed show poor Geddy's death. :( Morning light brought only one eaglet visible, Eden. Still no sightings of the female adult. Male delivered a fish but did not feed Eden. She is currently trying to eat it herself. :egg15:

Bev you said it all in a nut shell and it is terrible that they just give up on trying to help I wonder if this is a new couple or what. I am so sorry to hear this I haven't been able to get to the nest as I wanted and when I do its messed up half the time I guess its for the best that I didn't get to watch alot :egg10:
