Carolina Raptor Center...busy, busy, busy...

Sorry this is so long..they are just so entertaining...Savannah started by bringing in a new stick...then switched to digging for buried treasure. I don't know where the other eagles are that you are hearing..but, Derek decides to go check it out...I also think these two need to be placed on stick restriction.

toward the end, you will see that there are now only 2 eggs...

Houston, we have a problem....not really a problem, just nature. We have seen a pair of Great Horned Owls (GHO) in the nest seemingly looking to take it over. Pat Fisher from The Feather believes that if they are there, George and Martha may very well abandon it. Now, last year there was a sub adult eagle in the nest and George or Martha drove it off. If the owls take up residence, we will definitely not interfer. I don't know exactly what will happen, what we are certainly in for a lesson in Nature

I think one of Savannah eggs broke. She removed it from the nest yesterday and then Derek took it away and ate it. :( They posted video on FB but had it sped up so fast it was hard to catch.

I just hope the other two are viable!

Great catch, KF...I read that Harrison Bay has a second nest...It will be interesting to see which one they choose..

Twin Cities cam...recorded this morning...just now getting around to posting it. If egg lay estimates are correct then we should be on hatch watch!!! How the heck are they gonna feed these babies? Isn't MN frozen right now? I can tell I'm gonna worry myself to death...

either they want to get a head start on hunting for all the fish/food before everyone else does, or they came up from further south, or both.

seems to be more and more great horned owl cams now... that were originally eagle cams

the twin cities pair sure seem to be sitting tight on those eggs, not leaving them exposed for maybe more than 10 sec, at least from what I've seen this afternoon.

I find it interesting that its dad on the egg/chick now. Savanna is right there, too. With falcons, dads generally get very nervous if the mom isn't around & an egg is hatching.

cat ... I was watching right after it hatched... Derek came in and Savannah got up and took a break. Dad poked around at the empty shell and ate a few pieces. It was cute. :) The sun glare is so bad though ... going to take another look and see if it's better now.
