This was posted a few hours ago on FB. Its great to have an expert's opinion on her foot.

By Marge From REGI (Raptor Education Group, INC)

"The black is scab around where the toes came off. I think I see small sections of toe bone. They will likely fall away too. The exciting thing is the red tissue is regeneration of tissue and maybe scales granulation.. those are good things. This is what Larry has been protecting with that soft grasses."

Mary Ann ... thank you so much for posting all the videos! Such a difficult situation. On one had she seems to be holding her own ... and Larry seems to be very devoted to her, and almost seems as if he knows she is injured and is caring for her.

I hate seeing her sleeping in the snow ... but I'm sure it's her only choice at this point. I just wish there would be a little warmer weather to melt to snow off the nest. She got up for a bit of a stretch a few minutes ago... seems to be listening to the traffic on the road right now.

I worry about her being vulnerable to other Eagles right now ... especially ones that might like to take her nest.

I just finished watching all the videos.

Can't help but love this pair. I guess the prey in field will also draw in other eagles but I am glad they are providing for her.

Glad to know they think things are more positive with her feet. I will pray for some warmth.

And I for one am going to try and stay positive . I will check when I can but they have certainly stolen my heart.

With tears in my eyes and awe in my heart I read about how Lucy's injuries came about. SGB kindly led me to the place where I would get an explanation of what happened to her.

I could not love this pair more than now.I have not followed them like many of you, but I am so thankful for all who are looking out for them. More sites could learn from this labor of love.

God Bless them . It reminds me of some peregrines , who have looked after a mate when injured. WE could all learn a thing or two .

With love in my heart and prayers on my lips :girlluv: :girlluv:

I've also fallen in love with this pair after reading about them on here and following their story. Lucy's injuries were so severe and Larry is so devoted-reminds me of Kaver in 2006 when Mariah was injured and how he took care of her. I've never read that they knew what caused Lucy's injuries-there was just speculation as to what could've happened. Could you show me where to read how the injuries came about?

Ladies I so agree....and Kris, I immediately thought about Mariah and Kaver....There was also a RTH pair in New York with a very similar story...Male was injured and couldn't fly/hunt...the female took care of him, fed him until he recovered.

Kris, here is the official statement by Marge Gibson (REGI) and Eagles4kids released on 1/14 (scroll toward the bottom)

when I mentioned , it reminded me of peregrines that have looked after their mate, that is who I was thinking of also. Mariah and Kaver. I will never forget that pair.

And now this wonderful, pair of eagles.

Thanks, SGB, for posting this. I had read it before but missed the part about fractured legs and feet. It reminds me of our Archer and his poor feet/legs. :sorrow:

I would like to add a few notes about Lucy and Larry. We had such a sweet 2012 season. Two of the calmest eaglets I have ever observed. Lucy we believe was a first time mom. Larry actually had to show her to feed Luke, the first born, small pieces of food. She watched Larry and gave Larry pieces and Larry fed Luke. She got the hang of it. She likes to have the pantry covered with grass. She would play with cornhusks by twirling them while she brooded. Later Lilly the second eaglet tried to twirl cornhusks also. One day Larry was brooding the eaglets. When Lucy flew in she sat next to him and they sat next to each other for almost 30 minutes. We had quite a variety of food brought to the nest: pheasant pieces, turkey pieces, deer legs, squirrel, raccoons, fish, and rabbits. There are many videos on the Eagles4Kids home page. http://www.eagles4kids.com

Seeing her injury was so hard. She is determined to live and we will see this journey of hers continue to unfold. Realistically we know that there are no guanantees, but we can remain positive and be on her team. Go TEam Lucy.

I have watched this nest for 3 years. I am currently a moderator on the chat, but I am signed in as Applewooddy not Golden1. I am one of a team keeping notes at Hancock Wildlife Foundation. I love that you are all on her team too. And I thank you all for the videos you record. And there are many notes here on BCAW about this nest.
