Larry tucking Lucy in for the night...He stayed a little longer today..I'm sure it was because of the intruder...when he left, it appeared he went up to his normal perching branch.

From earlier today..

I was staring at Larry and Lucy's feet...almost anytime Lucy is in the nest, she either sits on her eagle knees, with feet out front, or the incubation pose...I still think she is having issues with the back toe of her left foot. Its never flat on the nest, like Larry's, and she's still walking on the side of it when she does walk.

Sitting back on her "knees/elbows"...

Standing, before sitting down again..

As I was staring at their feet, Talon zoomed in the PTZ cam...unfortunately, I didn't have my recorder set properly, but did get these pics...the cam was a little funky with pixelation (or whatever you call it) so not the clearest or the best color.

I do think this looks better

Both feet

Left foot..

I'm guessing these closeups will be sent to REGI...I really hope they take a good look at her left foot. I'm sure Talon has much better pics..

other than her feet, she seems perky, has helped some with nestorations, has been preening alot, and Larry is helping to keep her well fed..He brought brunch for her today. According to the chatters he waited patiently for 20-30 minutes and she never arrived, so he ate it... :teehee:

I did send pics to REGI. She thinks her right looks just OK but has some worry about the side. Bottom still has live tissue. No comment about the right. I have no problem stating that the left foot sustained injury in some fashion. The back to is NOT right but she keeps trudging on. It is strong enough for her to perch so...

Sorry about the cam issues today. I am still trying to get things analyzed .I am not happy about the pic quality on the PTZ, but at least it works. It is a bandwidth issue and is frustrating.

Thanks for watching.

Thanks so much, Talon...I think sometimes we tend to forget that these cams are not easy!!! Its not like you can flip a switch and "voila" a perfect, streaming cam. I learned that last year while working with the Richmond cam..geeeeeeeeez...

OK...Larry trying on the nestbowl for size!!!

Interesting happenings at the nest this afternoon...Another woman? menage a trois? a wayward female? Larry didn't seem particularly interested, but it caused a tad bit of confusion on chat..especially when we all thought the eagle sitting next to Larry was Lucy...but, it wasn't...

No vid on YouTube yet..so, If you want to see the interaction, video is on FB page..

Not sure this link will work, but you can give it a try ..

Lots of debate as to why Larry wasn't more aggressive with this other eagle who was clearly in L & L's territory..I really don't have an answer other than the norm is that males don't tangle with females. They are larger and can do harm to the smaller male. I think if the eagle sitting next to Larry had been a male (and I'm not saying it wasn't) then I think there would have been a fight and feathers would have been flying..I also think if Larry had been in the nest and this eagle had landed there, he may have not been so tolerant..

I think back to NBG last year...How many females did NBG male court..Just when you thought he had settled on one, another would enter the nest tree..he rarely ran it off even though bonding had been clearly seen with the prior female..

Well, whether male or female I sure hope it doesn't return. Last thing Lucy needs right now is a physical battle with another adult female!!!
