I don't remember seeing this cam listed and it's a little late, but really nice cam. This is a nest in Washington DC.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention Barb. :sum9:
Nest cam added to the Miscellaneous Cam Links
Also added info to the 2013 Eagle Calendar

Watching now and I saw one moving, but now everyone is down - must be sleeping. :zzzzz

From the National Geographics Cam site:
"You're looking at a live webcam featuring a bald eagle nest in Washington, D.C. The nest is home to a bald eagle pair and their chicks, which hatched in March 2013. You'll see the adults bringing fish from the Anacostia River to feed their young. The two chicks are covered with black juvenile feathers—they won't sport their characteristic white heads until they are four or five years old.

About the Eagles

The nest featured here is about five feet wide and made mostly of sticks. It sits about 80 feet up in a tree on the grounds of the Metropolitan Police Academy. Installing the webcam, provided by National Geographic, was Chief of Police Cathy L. Lanier's idea. She has long been interested in the eagle pair that chose the academy grounds for its home. "It is fitting and exciting that our national bird has made a home on the Metropolitan Police Department's Academy grounds," said Lanier. "We look forward to viewing the eagles in their habitat."

The eagles are thought to be the same pair that has nested in the area for several years, says Craig Koppie, raptor biologist at the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service's Chesapeake Bay field office in Annapolis, Maryland. Koppie is an advisor on the Earth Conservation Corps eagle restoration project, which also oversees a second bald eagle nest in Washington.

Bald eagle nests usually contain one to three dull-white eggs, and the parents take turns incubating them. Eggs hatch in about five weeks, and hatchlings are covered with soft, fluffy, light-gray feathers. “Generally the female stays on the nest while the father’s job is to bring in the food,” Koppie says. Food for this pair of eagles is generally fish—catfish, shad, or perch—plucked from the Anacostia.

At about eight weeks old, the chicks start their flying lessons by standing on the nest edge and beating their wings. Actual flight happens around the 11th week, Koppie says, with the parents circling nearby, often calling loudly. Young birds stay close to the nest for several weeks, continuing to depend on their parents for food."

Update on Minnesota Eagle nest

You are subscribed to News - WebCam - Eagle Cam for Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. This information has recently been updated, and is now available.

Hi Eagle Lovers!

Since the breaking of the final egg, there has still been daily activity at the nest. For the first few days after the last egg broke, the pair seemed to be preparing the "nursery" for another round of eggs. They were moving sticks around, adding grasses and making it look nice. Then, after a few days, it seemed like we had a new pair of eagles at the nest. We were able to zoom in on a band that was clearly not the same band as we had seen on the previous bird. Almost every day since, between about 4 and 5 p.m., there is a pair of birds at the nest. They move sticks around, look around and preen (clean their feathers). Maybe they are just hanging around to protect their territory, but maybe they are thinking about laying eggs. Again, we just don't know what they are thinking! It has been so fun to watch and so educational to see what eagles do at their nest this time of year. We still have not been able to retreive any information on the band numbers we had gotten earlier. We will keep trying and will share if we get information.

I look a couple times a day and only once saw an adult that was about 4 days ago, it makes me wonder kind of if the male from here is the new guy at the other metro park SGB you know the one I post about on FB where he has accepted the new eaglet. I guess from what I have read they really aren't that far apart, and this nest has been abandoned more or less for about a month or so

I think this nest is in columbus...I thought the other nest, with the new male, was in Cleveland...

I hadn't checked this nest in a while...but, early on, there was ALWAYS somebody incubating..and a few times, I saw the other perched...I'm gonna ask Donna Daniels...see if she's heard something..

UPDATE ON THE LIBBY DAM EAGLE NEST!!

I've kept checking the Libby Dam camera to no avail. So I wrote to Park Ranger Susan James. I just got a reply from her tonight!

Quote:
We are excited to announce that Mom and Dad Libby have two babies this year!

They are unfortunately only visible on the closed circuit tv at the Libby Dam Visitor Center.

Installation of a new transmitter and receiver means we are getting a clear signal even when it rains!

However, we still have significant technical hurdles to overcome to get a picture back up on the internet.
Libby is quite remote and our options are limited. We are investigating partnerships with others such as the successful Jordan Lake webcam: http://www.ustream.tv/jordanlakeeagles

And she sent me 2 pictures ... they're a little rough looking but I do see the 2 chicks in the second picture. :)
