TROUBLE AT MDNR, seem the bigger of the eaglets is stuck and can't move. This is the nest site that absolutely won't intervene from what I have read
twizzkid
in response to velindasantana:

i’m concern about oldest eaglet on DNR nest it seem having trouble to move ? please any comments?
twizzkid
others share your concern. The oldest appears stuck on something in the nest. Hoping for improvement in the morning.

WEll, they did intervene and Snap has been rescued. I'm still gathering info...

Vid of Snap's injury and removal from the nest...by knarley123

Snap is currently at TRC (U of MN Raptor Center)..No update on condition as of yet.

as a strange twist of fate, the female at this nest was once a patient at TRC in 2010..Info about Mom as a patient at TRC

I am so grateful they did this,
David Hancock has done this a few times in B.C.

this young one may be able to be treated and then work in a flight cage and released. I just know what they do at rehab.

I know it may not be as simple as that but I think positive in most of these case
and his mom i s evidence that these things work

thanks SGB for alerting us. I do not have time to watch all , but I watched this pair last year keep incubating , far beyond hatch dates

I just saw tha t Justice was helped also at Rover farm.
fishing line has become a problem. David Hancock had to remove an eaglet , lst year of Sidney cam, and take fishing line off.
they also removed the rest from nest.

So those that say you cannot do this, we know it is done and to harm to anyone
will await word for little on eat MN

Hi Eagle Fans. We will be turning the eagle cam back on tomorrow. The Nongame staff with the help of Xcel Energy removed the struggling eaglet from the nest. The decision to do so was made by DNR Nongame staff in consultation with Commissioner Landwehr. The chick is at the Raptor Center for treatment right now. At first examination, it was determined to have a serious injury to its right wing and leg. The prognosis will be made over the weekend, and the decision on treatment will be made and announced at that time. Thank you everyone for your support and passion. For a more detailed update, see the eagle update page, or sign up for email updates on the eagle cam page: http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/eaglecam/faq.html

this is an update

SNAP UPDATE :girlsad3:
The Raptor Center admitted the eaglet from the MN DNR EagleCam's nest last night. The chick received emergency and supportive care last night and this morning. Initial diagnostics show a severely injured elbow, an injured hock and indications of a systemic infection. Diagnostics are on-going to complete evaluation of the chick’s condition, although we can tell you at this time that the prognosis is poor. Our veterinarians continue to closely monitor and treat the eaglet.

Dad has been incubating the egg for hours! Where’s Mom? A light drizzle—Dad shakes his feathers when he stands up to turn the egg.
