They put it on her head...she's due soon!

We use a foaling monitor on our mares when they begin to show signs that they are getting closer to foaling. This is a device that the is attached to the mare's halter and sends a signal to our pager when the mare lies flat out in the foaling position. It has been an great tool for us but it is still an electronic device and nothing is as reliable as actually watching the mare. We have been very blessed to have wonderful people from all over the world help us watch our mares via the foaling cams and to call us when there is something we should be aware of. We thank you so much for all your help.

Some views you can see movement of the one inside...I used to watch my dog's puppies move around.

They let Scarlette out, but Rosa was mad and wanted out, too.
She stomped her front feet and snorted a lot, then they took her out too!

Update on Rosa...

Rosa's bag is very large and tight this evening and she is now testing 4.5 squares on her milk strips. However, her pH has not dropped yet. Her rump muscles are very soft and her vulva is beginning to swell and lengthen. We have a line of thunderstorms moving this way...maybe the lower barometric pressure will speed things up.

I'll probably check her again later tonight and I'll let you know if I see anything changing.

Please call if you see her in labor and we are not with her.

The "horse people" on the message board seem to feel she will deliver tonight...stay tuned!!!

(this is like watching paint dry...)

This is way toooooooooo cool...Beth, rosa's owner, (not our Beth) has posted a Foaling alert monitor..(the same one she receives in her home). You can leave this monitor open on your computer. The monitor sounds if Rosa lies down, one of the indicators of labor...

Here is the lastest update on Rosa...

Rosa is back inside for the night. She is still testing 4.5 on her milk strips but her pH is starting to drop.
We'll just have to see what tonight brings.
She could make her final changes in only a few hours or could hold on for a few days.

Update from Beth on Rosa... (10:19)

Rosa kept a whole lot of people up all night last night. I've never had a mare act like she did all night and not foal.
She is in no distress...
So we just have wait to see what she will do. We will take her for a walk later this morning.
