PORT WASHINGTON

From the WE site today at 10 AM -- definitely looks more like B/Red than B/Green.
Also, looks more like 2 digits over 1 letter (as Brinn's is) rather than 1 letter over 1 letter (as IndyFroona's is)

Yes, it's hard not knowing what happened to IndyFroona. Hopefully she will turn up somewhere with a cam next season. Gosh, I wonder if she would try to return to Indianapolis.

Hi Susan,

Good to see you here. I am sorry I did not update the Port Washington info page with Brinn. I think I was hoping IndyFroona would be back. Greg positively identified Brinn in March at Port Washington after noting he had not seen IndyFroona in quite a while.

How fun that you were able to see the PW site. And thank you for the pictures. I will figure out how to include them somewhere as a permanent part of the forum.

Hi Gigi. No apologies necessary; I would have held out hope as well that IndyFroona would come back at the last minute.

Four peregrine falcons were named and banded today at our Oak Creek power plant site.

These are the first falcons to be banded this season. Their names are Franklin, Cliff, Hunter and Flash. The names were chosen by students from Country Dale Elementary School in Franklin who were on hand to see the banding.

So far I have seen H/28, H/29 B/R

Milwaukee County banded & is the live cam now
Three more peregrine falcons banded, named
Beasley, Kozmo and Mimi are the names of the peregrine falcon chicks recently hatched and banded at our Milwaukee County Power Plant.

Peregrine Manager Greg Septon banded the chicks this morning. Guests from the Schlitz Audubon and Riveredge nature centers were on hand to witness the banding and name the birds. We auctioned off VIP banding visits for both nature centers at fundraising events. Winning bidders donated money to the nature centers for the unique chance to witness a falcon banding in person.

Justin Machata won his banding visit through Schlitz Audubon Nature Center. He helped Septon band a male falcon, which he named Beasley after the family’s dog. Todd Firer won his visit through Riveredge Nature Center and also named a falcon after a pet, Kozmo, the family’s deceased golden retriever. Employees at the power plant named the last chick of the group, Mimi, the lone female.

The picture where they are sitting in a row made me think: 1 female, 3 males.
But I agree with skygirlblue, let's wait for Greg's report (saving ourselves a lot of time searching the web) :egg11:

Hi Kittenface- Thanks again for your beautiful video montages! I watched the County nestbox for a bit on the live cam... at first I thought no one was home, but then realized that the way the cam is angled, some of the "bottom" part of the nest is out of view. It was pretty quiet there. Two of the babies were out milling around in the nest box. One was even flapping his wings a bit. I don't suppose there is any report about how Tahoe behaved when her chicks were banded?

I haven't seen anything yet about Tahoe but if I do I'll get right here and let you know, she sure has proven to be a great mommy so far. :loveshow:

MadameX update
Back in the sky: Peregrine falcon wounded by shotgun fire now training for flight
MILWAUKEE (WITI) — “Madame X,” the peregrine falcon that was shot last February in West Allis, took another step on Tuesday, June 10th in her recovery while in the care of the Wisconsin Humane Society Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.

Madame X began “creance” flying on Tuesday, which involves multiple, tethered conditioning flights over a 20-30 minute period.

“Madame X” was discovered in a yard outside the Cocktails & Dreams tavern at 55th & Grant in West Allis on February 27th.

A part-time employee was in the kitchen, looked out the window and saw near the shed what she thought was a hawk. The peregrine falcon was promptly taken to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center for care. We Energies officials say X-rays revealed Madame X had been shot and also suffered a broken collar bone.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the personal responsible for what happened to Madame X. Peregrine falcons are listed as an endangered species in Wisconsin. Shooting one is a serious crime, punishable by jail time and fines.

If you have any information, you’re asked to call West Allis Crime Stoppers at: 414-476-CASH (2274). Callers may request confidentiality.
