The preview page:

THE CHICK NOW HAS A NAME, "Jono"

Jon Oliver, CEO of Africam.com sadly passed away just a few days before Emoyeni's chick was born in June, 2014. Therefore, we think it only fitting that this eaglet should be named "Jono", which is what he was always called by his friends and family. Jon's work with the Black Eaglet Project over the past five years was truly cutting edge. He worked tirelessly to make sure each and every year the project, and the live camera used to monitor it, would be a success. His contributions to the Black Eagle Project will be sorely missed, but we know his memory will live on through Emoyeni's baby eaglet, "Jono".

from fb Raptor Resource Project

From our friends at PEF. We are working on getting that cam started back up this year.
A beautiful Philippine Eagle pair keeping each other company. Perhaps they are preparing for the breeding season?

Philippine Eagles have the longest and energetically most expensive parental investments for any birds of prey, laying a single egg every two years. Historically, they were an apex predator living high in the canopy, so very little threatened them or their offspring. Their relatively slow reproduction rate was helpful, since PE require a very large home range and nestlings eat an enormous amount of food. However, a reproductive strategy that successfully addresses habitat requirements, nutritional demands, and food scarcity does not protect the Philippine Eagle from habitat loss or human activity. The loss of nesting habitat sent the PE population into a tailspin and made them one of the most endangered birds in the world. Like our partners in the Philippines, we believe they can be saved. We'll be writing more about that in the months to come.

you can't see their beautiful blue-green eyes well in this photo, but they are just amazing!
