I'm afraid to watch too. She's probably trying to keep as large an area as possible free of snow. Problem is, so much accumulates on her wings that when she gets up to shake it off it falls into the bowl. :( This is gonna be one long night. Poor Belle. :(

She got up just a few minutes ago and is now facing away from the cam with her wings outstretched. She did roll the egg ... you can sort of see it in the 3rd pic.

Thanks for those pics, Patti and skygirlblue. Here's the latest one; can't believe an eagle is underneath all this:

I just have to hope that the snow is blanketing and not as bad as it looks. And then again maybe I am dilusional.

Well a few minutes ago she finally got up and a good shake and a couple of big flaps of her wings...then went right back to her duties!!

Did the best I could with these.

Belle is one strong eagle. If anyone can pull this off, she's the one who can do it. Image

I'm guessing Liberty can't take a shift until the storm lets up - both because there's a much greater chance of snow getting in the bowl during a switch - and because he's not as big and can't keep as large an area dry and warm.

Humanizing slightly - but I hope he shows up with a nice breakfast for her as soon as the snow lets up, then takes over so she can rest her tired bones.

Thank you for the pictures and updates - this is a lot more snow than most eagles have had to contend with, and for better or worse it's useful to document how they handle it.

Whew - I can breathe another sigh of relief. It looks like Belle made it through the night and has carved out a nice little bowl in the snow!

It looks like it is still snowing there. I'm trying to trust that these parents know that the egg is okay. . . . but it is hard to watch.

The eggs can get quite cold and survive - but I'm not real optimistic - not so much because they've been uncovered as because it looks as if the snow has worked its way in. I don't think they can survive a freeze. Image

I'm certainly not giving up - the eggs are made to survive some pretty tough weather - but I'm also hoping that the weather will be better soon - and that she has a third egg to lay when some of the snow is gone.
