The problem is that the storm isn't even over yet. I want to go shovel the nest out for them. :(

Third egg? I must have missed the second one; when was it laid?

Susan, I think Judy was saying a third egg is possible if these two fail. I agree. I just read a post on the Norfolk chat about how she was crying for dad, got off of the eggs, then lost them in the snow. Poor mom. I wish we would see dad.

When you say "these two" that's what I'm questioning. When was the second one laid? I missed it. :?

I think Dad is in my shots posted on the previous page at 8:18 a.m. EST (smaller in the bowl) . . . then Mom back in my 8:22 a.m. EST shot.

Thank you for that info. Makes me feel better. I'm not sure about a second egg here.

It is early in the egg process so there is always hope. I do not think they know if there is a second egg yet. I think they are just assuming because one is due.

On the positive side it is early in the season and if the egg does not make it ,there is time for more. Remember Norfolk 2 seasons ago.
this is different from 2007. the snow came close to hatching. I rimeber. I stayed up allnight watching the nest here and in Maine and prayed.
Positive thoughts everyone.

Sorry for the confusion - I'm posting on too many forums. Someone on the Maine forum thought she saw two eggs, and based on the usual three day laying pattern for this pair, the second egg was due last night. We do not know if it has arrived, and I didn't make that clear.

Not sure if this has been posted here - it's a video Lori from the Maine forum made at 8:07 this morning. I'm not sure, but I think it's a switch, and think that Liberty (the male) was having trouble finding quite where to settle. But it does look as if there is some brown stuff down there, so there might be a bit of padding around the eggs. Unfortunately, only time will tell.

WOW...very interesting video...thanks for posting it here, JudyB and Lori for capturing it...it looked like a switch to me...but curious as to why she left the egg so exposed. Lisa, from Blackwater, is reporting that the people at NCTC are worried that the egg was "overexposed to the snow today"...I guess time will tell....and it wil be interesting to see what the nest bowl looks like when she gets up...if her body temp has melted the bottom of the bowl...I sure do hope so...

this is what I posted at Miane.
I am sure there was a switch and I think we watched her lay another egg. Not in that video though.

I just watched that video and you know . she did the right thing to get her wings limber and I think that was dad that came back for a bit and then left and then mom came in again. the reason I say it was dad was becasue he did not know quite where the eggs?egg were and then he lay on them .
then Mom came back and did her thing

I am thinking that things are O.K. I am just thinking about humans.

In a snow storm the best thing to do is a dig a hole in the snow and get under. the snow will act as an insulator against the elements. The same here. I am thinking that even if the eggs/egg are under snow but she is on top , they are keeping warm. It is early enough that there is no danger yet. and that is my theory of the day Wink Wink

Thanks for the clarification on the number of eggs, everyone. It is so hard to just sit and wait, isn't it? Waiting to see the number of eggs . . . waiting to see if they survive . . . waiting waiting waiting. :sfyesno:

I said I wasn't gonna watch either...I was hoping to see a less snowy bowl bottom since she had been down for so long...she's still not on the egg(s)...I'm not really sure what she's doing...I wish dad would make an appearance..

I'm impressed the cam is still running...AND..I need to get off the computer and out of my chair...
