LeeLee, there are two cams on the Shepherdstown nest -- a live cam and a refresh cam. With the refresh cam you can use the "right-click & Save Picture As" method. That link is here:

As Beth said, the link she gave you will explain some ways to capture from live streaming if that is your preferred camera. If you still have trouble after reading those directions, see the PM I sent you. Good Luck!

Doralyn, Shoebutton, JudyB, and bev have been watching the nest this morning. I can't bring myself to look. The Maine forum is down today... but I wanted to post part of Lisa's blog post (from Blackwater) concerning this nest.

Quote:
As some of you may have heard, it looks like the NCTC Eagle Cam in West Virginia (at the National Conservation Training Center) is going to lose all their eggs. We hear the pair laid a second egg during the last snow storm and then laid a third egg during this storm, but they’ve been on and off the egg(s), so it doesn’t look good. As bad as our storms have been — and we have officially set a record in the Washington, DC area for the most snow recorded in a single season — the West Virginia folks have gotten it even worse, so we express our sympathy for the WV fans, as they’ve had rotten luck this year.

I am 2 days behind with my work so I cannot watch anymore for now
Belle has been incubating so far today. It is Lib who does not. so I am thinking , do we know if this is Lib or maybe a new inexperienced Male.

Just a lot of things rolling in my mind.
but I am still hoping here. I know , I know , but that is just me.

Reese was saying that the egg could still be viable.
I know they can stall incubation if the egg does not get too cold.

I guess we will see but I have to get work done.
and I jsut told myself , it will be what it will be whether I watch or not. I cannot sit on the eggs for them What a picture eh!!!!

So I may be in seclusion for awhile. :wavingsnowgirl: :wavingsnowgirl:

Hi all. Thanks for your help, I have vista on this laptop and forgot I could use it to CAPTURE not just edit! DUH! Still getting used to it. Heres a pic of one of the eagles who has been sitting away from the egg for close to a hour now. I believe the egg will be lost, I just hope they will work on the nest after some snow is removed. They tried earlier this am, both moving sticks etc but WIND is too strong, blowing them all around. My heart is broken for them. I hope this does not change their bond to each other and they try to re lay ina day or so? Image

P.S. Just checked nestbowl again, no eagles on nest. It almost looks like 2 eggs in bowl? Or is that snow? Did Belle come back because she had another egg to lay? I enlarged screen and still cant tell if it a clump of snow next to the egg or a 2nd egg?

LeeLee-Belle layed 3 eggs and she will be done for this clutch. I was reading that it
takes alot out of female eagles to lay 3 and she might not have enough reserve to have
a second round/clutch of eggs this year. Poor parents :(

They need to have a quiet :beathrt: Valentines Day :beathrt: and regroup for 2011.

Wow, that saddens me, to wait another year. Someone on one of the websites said that she had lost a 2 egg clutch before, and later re laid 2 more eggs of which at least 1 hatched. Did you hear that? I think I am going to cry if that is the case, it seems like we have waited so long already so see new eaglets of theirs. All I can do is scream NOOOOOO! My heart is really breaking for them.

Yes, it is heart-breaking LeeLee...
I guess time will tell if she can lay anymore in 2010.

My heart has broken a lot over eagle eggs/little ones (Maine 2006 or 07  ) and it just doesn't get
any easier...

LeeLee ... that was the Norfolk nest that had a second clutch. I think we're still in a little bit of a waiting game with Belle and Lib, we'll just have to watch and see what happens. And YES, it is very hard to watch and breaks your heart ... but the eagles go on and we must to. If we have to wait until next year, well then I guess we have to wait - and I'll be here!!

bev - you've outdone yourself the past couple days ... and you've stayed very positive!! Thank You!!

I am going to keep hope she can lay another egg, just one more, or just one of these other eggs can be viable. :beathrt: I think now I'll go watch my owls and smile at the babies. I need to smile today! Thanks for your posts! :waveht:

I just don't know ... this is so baffling. Why would she not brood during the day but then come back at night. She probably figures Lib will take over for her, but he's too interested in trying to fix his nest! ARGH!

I wonder if it's a hormone thing that keeps drawing her back to the nest.

This has just been very bad timing for these two...I am so glad it is very early in the season...we would all be so devastated if there were chicks in the nest...

I just hope she has one more in her....AFTER the thaw...

I am not supposed to be on the computer but a quick note and I will come back later with a few slide shows.
I am not giving up here.
the eagles and us do not know if the egg is viable or not so we will jsut wait .

and would that not be something if she had another one in her now and laid a 4th. Just saying. It has been done before.

I agree bev, that it's worth not giving up. We do not know all the wonders of nature and let's hope we are thoroughly rewarded. :girlluv:

Thanks guys. I try and be positive. My mom always said that what is meant for us will not pass us by. And I feel that way here.

I may be off line for a bit. Peter has to work on the computer. We keep freezing up and I think we need the new one finally. We have to see how much they cost. I will try and peek in
the cam at this eagle sit e really throw my computer off but I have to watch them :loveshow: :loveshow:

Here are the 2 slideshows I promised
I missed a lot of great shots with my computer freezing

These are from about 30-40 minutes ago. Trying to see into the bowl and if there are eggs intact . . .
