A big thanks to everyone who has been posting here with international kestrel pictures and news! It's been great to see all the action at the kestrel nests, and I especially enjoyed seeing the Rosenheim kestrels at their nest.

Nice pictures of the Brest kestrel, loza!

I just wish that the Kwidzyn kestrels could post a "Keep Out - No Trespassing" sign at the entrance to their nest so that the pigeons stay away!

The pigeon was enjoying the visit...until it saw the kestrel coming and got out in the nick of time....

Mutenz...the only feathered creature I have caught here...it didn't stay long..

Morning that it looks promising.

The Queen sat long in the hole nesting.

Unfortunately, no eggs

Then I came across loud race.
The Queen flowed and fell down into the slot.

Behind her came the King

I've even seen a 4th egg on that day, but it's very hard to catch a good snapshot.

Here's snapshot from Tuesday around 5 PM, when the male left the nest before the female turned in for the night. I thought I saw 5 eggs, but have also noted this male settles down on the eggs rather quickly, usually a Lesser Kestrel male needs a bit more time to cover 5 eggs:

M returned a bit later with a snake (only half of it is visible), calling out for his partner in vain, and left again, taking the prey with him:

Here''s M "airing" the eggs for a while, it was hot this afternoon - temps are already high (well over 30 C)!
