I heard back from Greg. Here was his response..

I see what you're saying and am watching as well. I have live access to this cam and I've not seen Eclipse all morning. If you'll recall, something similar happened at this site a few years back when Great horned owls (GHO) were present and the peregrines incubated during hours of daylight but left the eggs unattended at night when the owls were present and a real threat. The site failed that year because the eggs were likely not being incubated at night. Another possible scenario could be that something happened to Eclipse - perhaps a tangle with a GHO or there could be another female peregrine on site and a territorial battle took place? Hard to say for sure but I'll be watching all weekend.

Gonna hope for the best...and hope he sees her on cam..BTW, Eclipse wasn't around for the GHO incident.

They've pulled the cam back. No sign of Eclipse on the stills..I'm very bummed out..

I am looking at the pics and in almost every one of them is a falcon incubating.
I screwed up on some [a lot] of the times. But you get the idea.

Thanks guys...its bad news. I got another email from Greg. It appears that Eclipse has been displaced by an unbanded female. (So unusual to see a new female incubating). he sent a couple of pics:

Needless to say I'm bummed...This had to be fairly recent. I may not have posted pics..(I sure hope I took some of Eclipse incubating..I'll have to go look) but I tried to check on them several times a week. Nothing looked strange at all until recently...

I also have to wonder if she recently lost her own nest or clutch. Just so strange to see a new female standing over the eggs and appearing to incubate in a few of the stills. I think back to San Fran and how much that female kicked all of those eggs around for the longest time before she finally was ready to lay her own..same thing with DuBois this year. That new female showed NO interest in that poor lone egg...

So, now we just wait..if those eggs hatch, I sure hope that female feels like being a mom..

Bev...yes..2 different falcons..you've got Scott and the unbanded female. When I saw the stills, I was so hoping it was Eclipse...But nope...I forgot to look at the time Greg sent the email...I still have my fingers crossed that she took the nest back this afternoon...who knows..

Thilmany being ousted by Olivia just broke my heart, she was my Wonder Falcon. It is so hard for us to see these take overs.

Eclipse is Alive!!!

at least for now!!

I got another email from Greg. He has confirmed that Eclipse has been back to the box today. He also received an email from a plant worker who witnessed a fierce aerial battle about 6:30 this morning..their time..This employee witnessed the battle and then saw 2 falcons drop to the roof of a building. Greg has asked that they send somebody to the roof of that building to see if they find anything...

Before I read his email, I checked the stills...This was the 7 pm pic...my first impression was that the bird coming in just had to be Eclipse..to be honest...I'm just not sure...I can't remember the color of Scott's federal band...I suppose it could be him coming in and the unbanded female on the eggs...but the falcon in the box looks too small to be female..but, who knows..

and this is the pic that Greg sent me from today of Eclipse at the box..

The battle may not be over..but, at least, for today, Eclipse is still there and trying to regain her territory!!
