12/29 lstaudt_AEF: Hamlet Update:
Romeo perched on the tree this morning waiting for shift change.
Both flew off at 7:40a and could hear bonding vocals in the distance (7:42a)
with Romeo returning & on duty 2 hrs.
J brought in nice big Carp (9:51a) and Romeo delivered squirrel minutes later.
Romeo returned just after 11a and both were on alert.
Fourth shift change with Juliet on nest and another nice feeding for both eaglets.
Romeo delivered a well-eaten fish for the pantry (1:37p).

They are feasting right now on that big fish. I have not seen the entire feed so I hope they are both getting their fair share.

Oh dear, Julia is just about stepping on one chick's head while grabbing at the fish...

Hamlet Update: Romeo on duty for most of the morning, departing a few times,
bringing in fresh squirrel for great feeding.
Juliet brought in huge Grass Carp (10:23a).
Romeo delivered a nice Snook (1:30p) and Needlenose Gar (3:03p),
Carp (3:24p) and Mullet (4:11p).
Nice family time around 4:30p.
Juliet currently on nest duty and keeping little ones well fed with Friday Night Seafood Buffet.
Low 70'sF/21.7°C ahead of cool front. Enjoy your eagle viewing!

I watched a feed this morning. I don't know what she was feeding them, but it was very stringy. She kept giving one bite to each of them & neither could get it down. I counted 9 times she kept picking it up & putting it in a mouth just to have it fall out again. :teehee:

AEF-NEFL Eagles 1-2-16 NE5 Goes For A Ride :girlcrazy:

During a change of guard Juliet steps away for the eaglets
but gets nesting material stuck to her talons - dragging the material and NE5 with her.
All is well as the ride did not last long.
