Hanover

Everybody sleeping already. They definitely want to snuggle up to mom tonight cause its very chilly & windy!

Can hardly get over how big the Hanover eaglets are getting. Feathers starting to come out. A little while ago a White-breasted Nuthatch was first in the nest tree, and then IN the nest. Both eaglets stood up and the Nuthatch took off.

There was a nice article about the Hanover eaglets in our Harrisburg Sunday paper yesterday. Also a new eagle nest for this year in Lebanon County about 20 miles from Harrisburg. Those adults are feeding at least one eaglet. :-)

I stopped watching this cam once the lens was all cloudy cause I really couldn't see anything. Now most of the pooh has been washed off (probably from all the rain we've been getting). I only see one of the kids in the nest & since apparently no one has been keeping up with this nest, I don't know if one has fledged or just out of cam range. I also clicked the FB link to see if there was any report there but apparently all the FB page has is the cam itself. :egg16:

Such a difference between Winter scenes & Spring scenes. :clap:

Edit: The other kid just lifted his bright orange talon up to scratch so I did locate him. He's up on the branch near the one who is clearly visible here. Anyone know whether these kids were banded?

The oldest known banded bald eagle recently died, but amazingly it lived 38 years in the wild.

That was an amazing bird passing his amazing genes to many offspring. Flying high right until the end. :sorrow:

I just heard on the local news that there was some doubt about whether the Hanover cam would be up next season because of budgetary restraints, but some group took up donations to pay for the cam so it could start up as early as this week! :sum9:

Harmar nest in Pennsylvania

The Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania has announced the launch of the Harmar Bald Eagle webcam. Per the announcement the eagle pair has successfully fledged one eaglet since creating their nest and this will be the first year for live streaming this nest.
