They did say it was monofilament (fishing) line and his poor claw was swollen three to
four times what it should have been.
They said he'll require surgery.
CROW said Ozzie's memorial donations are now helping E8!

Thanks, Beth! I also couldn't understand everything she was saying. Why do you think the little one needs surgery?

awe poor little guy.

glad they got him now and hopefully he can be returned to nest. think I will go and make a donation.

BB-I am not sure why he would need surgery?
Maybe others would know...
I am so glad they didn't wait any longer than 24 hours.
I think it would have been much worse.

Beth, I'm thinking the "surgery" is to remove the line that was wrapped from his knee to his ankle and to assess damage ... that's a whole lot of swelling ...

Update from CROW:

Earlier today, E8 was retrieved from its nest at the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam in North Fort Myers as a result of a fishing line that was caught around its left leg and brought to CROW Clinic.

Upon arrival, E8 received an examination and radiographs to determine if there were any broken bones or internal injures. Radiographs indicate that there are no broken bones but showed signs of dehydration and weight loss.

Because of swelling in the leg, there is concern about nerve damage due to the lack of blood flow. More will be determined tomorrow once the swelling has reduced.

E8 is currently receiving food, fluids, antibiotics and plenty of rest. We will share an update tomorrow.

Thanks for posting the link, Catwoman...CROW posted another video..this time a view of the nest tree AND bucket truck...speeded up....you can see Harriet and M15 buzzing the nest..in fast motion...

Oh,oh ... careful where your donations are going ...

While the rescue was taking place a website for CROW came up. i just clicked on that website and donated. Didn't realize it was in South Africa the one I donated too. Saw some other posts on chat mentioning South Africa also. Went thru my history and went on that website. Could see the difference. Called my bank and stopped my debit card in case of hacking. I will donate to the correct CROW as soon as I am issued a new card in OZZIE and E8.

The woman shooting the video wasn't close enough to be able to tell, but I was watching when the rescuers arrived & that was M15 who was on the nest at the time. The people on chat who follow this nest were even more impressed with him with his protector mode! Harriet must have been further away. I was watching on the split screen & when M15 flew out of the nest, there was another large bird flying around which I thought was Harriet, but she wouldn't have just leave if she thought her nest was in danger, so it was obviously just another large bird.

So glad E8 is in great hands & will hopefully be home with his family soon. :snowflake2:
