UPDATE: E8 (#16-361) is bright and alert and continues to show signs of improvement. The eaglet continues to receive physical therapy and a warm pack on its feet 3 times a day to help reduce swelling. E8’s appetite is strong and is steadily gaining weight. :16val:

No, not from the officials. Posters had some discussion among themselves, but thought he might be too young for fitting. Interestingly, there was talk of "did they do DNA testing on Ozzie" and "will they do DNA testing on E8" to see if M15 is offspring of Ozzie and Harriet. Well that was quickly poo-pooed from some saying "what does it matter?" It matters to me ... :8val:

I'm not an eagle expert, but I do know that E8 is too young to be banded. I'd have to drum up my Richmond Eagle Notes to be able to tell you the banding age. I think I would have an easier time winning the lottery than finding those notes..

The appropriate banding age for Peregrines is about 3 weeks, so its probably similar in Eagles.

E8's feeding this morning. The eaglet was very vocal, alert and has an incredible appetite. Its left foot looks great and continues to gain weight. We will post another update later this afternoon.

E8 RELEASE UPDATE- After 3 days in the care of CROW - Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Inc., E8 has been cleared for release & will return back to the nest with E7, Harriet & M15 today! The release will happen early this afternoon and we will again be pausing live streaming for the safety of all involved, most importantly the eagles.
E8’s injury was caused by improperly discarded fishing line that ended up in the nest. You can help reduce litter and save all kinds of wildlife by properly disposing of or recycling fishing line and other litter. Learn more about MyFWC's Monofilament Recovery & Recycling Program at the link below.
