Hello,
as Skygirlblue said, that nest is the one of Aloa and Falcao, another nest of birdcam.it in Rome. We are altogher following 4 nests of Peregrine in Rome now.

Time scheduling: since we Italians are very kind ;) , we thought to give you the possibility to watch a little longer the nest of Appio and Vergine. So we changed the scheduling of the computer, that now stops one hour later, at 18:30 (GMT+1). Have fun!

Bye Carlo
Carlo

I confirm what Carlo has written.

He's also mentioned that the Appio and Vergine cam will switch off at 6.30 pm our time but it will also start an hour later at 9.30 in the morning. This should enable all our North American friends to see something of the nest 'live'. ;)

Thanks to all for the clarification, and our Italian friends for keeping the cam on a little longer. Four nests should keep us all hopping!

Wonder if there are eggs here? The cam is back up today & someone is in incubation mode!

I would also like to add my thanks for keeping the cam of Appio & Vergine on later for fans in the U.S.!

Hello,
We had some problems with the computer of Aloa and Falcao, as you noticed. Today, after repairing the computer, we had the good news that there are already two eggs in the nest! :loveshow:

so, all peregrine nests followed by birdcam.it have eggs now! ;)

greetings,
Carlo

Carlos, congratulations on having such a successful year so far!! What is the population of falcons in Italy? Based on the number of nests on a cam that are successful, I guess its pretty high.

Hi,
we do not really know how many peregrines are in Italy because we can't follow up the steady increase of this species of the last few decades!
In 2000 the population was estimated to be about 900 pairs, but since then at least in some area (like Latium, the Region of Rome) the population increased by two or three.. so let's say that between 1500-2000 pairs is probably a safe estimation. Italy is about 300.000sqkm, something like Arizona (thanks wikipedia)... In Rome there are at least 6 pairs, probably 7.

bye
Carlo (without S) ;)

And our peregrines are prolific too:

Thanks Passera for the photo - now we have 3 eggs in this nest, 3 for Aria and Vento, and 2 for Alice and Virgilio, but these pairs haven't finished laying, and there are 4 in the new nest Appio and Vergine!!

By the way, the computer of the cam will be replaced so the picture may be intermittent until that happens ;) .
