(IMO E8 is definitely self-feeding: I saw him standing on his fishy and pulling at it and eating; such a smart little eaglet!)

Agreed. That E8 is a real survivor. The rough start in life has put him/her well ahead of E7. Very smart indeed. Glad to see there is peace today in the nest and E8 has a nice crop.

Wouldn't it be something if E7 noticed E8 feeding & asked him to feed her too? :teehee:

:flirty: He's such a cutie pie - he'd say, "Here, Sis!"
(bonk!)
(I think E8 is a male and E7 is female...)

Harriet just brought in a fish! Sounds like things are going well at this nest, finally! :loveshow:

:flirty: Indeed! Looks like the kids are now being fed together for each feed. What a switch from before. Looks like E7 is growing out of that bonking stage. I'm inclined to agree that E7 is probably a girl and E8 a boy. They are so sweet. :7val:

:1val: Thanks for the video bonbon! :loveheart2: I see E8 is starting to get his black feathers too. Our babies are growing up! It won't be long till E7 and E8 are "best buds" just as Hope and Honor became. :flirty: Oh and did I ever tell you all that this is my favorite eagle nest in the whole wide world? :teehee:

All looking good here for both chicks, although I understand E7 is still getting in an occasional bonk on E8. Jeez!!
E7 on the left and E8 on the right. They are now 1 1/2 ft tall.

From local chat they are reporting the pickings are slim today.

GE eagle lovers! Something to keep in mind is that we have lots of birds competing for food here in SW FL. Large population of eagles, osprey, vultures, owls, etc. Plus, the Caloosahatchee is very murky right now from the Lake O water releases, so fishing is not as good.

the food came in later in day yesterday. And they had a lot to eat, so a few lean days will not hurt them. E7 will just have to stay out of harms way LOL

:8val: Lil E8's black feathers are coming in now. He's grabbing his food from the parents' beak with the utmost of speed and precision!!!
