Dan Nicholas eaglet will move to Huntersville (Carolina Raptor Center) to go to foster parents
I wonder if it will be Savannah & Derek? I posted on FB page and asked.

When Freedom moves to the Carolina Raptor Center, it will be placed with a pair of eagles that are sitting on infertile eggs, Pendergrass said in his email. Both eagles at the Carolina Raptor Center are off exhibit, away from public view. -

By Eagleholic

Cam watchers noticed that one of the two recently fledged eaglets from the RF Eaglecam nest was on the ground hopping for an extended period of time. It is suspected that the eaglet has an injured leg. Authorities were called and consulted and help is on the ground this morning searching for the eaglet to capture it and get it into care. At this nest, it has been really difficult to watch because earlier in the season, the cam was knocked from its mounting and has been dangling down, limiting what we can see to just a corner of the nest, but now, that same view, the one that shows the ground beneath the nest, made it possible for those very dedicated cam viewers to realize that the eaglet was injured. In the photo, you can’t see the eaglet, but the light green on the path is a person looking for the eaglet.
I will update if I get any more info.

On September 28, 2016 the Wetland Eagles returned safely to the East Fork Wetland and began their courtship for the 2017 breeding season. With the tireless efforts and commitment by Falcon Steel America, we now have a brand new camera system to view the eagle's activity from your home, office, or cell phone.

David Smid, IT Specialist with Falcon Steel America and Jeffry Carrillo, a professional tree climber with "Just Cut It," completed the camera system upgrade. Jeffry bravely climbed the tower and installed a brand new camera and transmitter while David worked from the ground to upgrade the relay switch and secure a new ground wire to direct any future lightning strikes to earth.

The John Bunker Sands Wetlands eaglecam in Texas is up and running for the new season!
Last year, the cam was damaged in a storm and was offline for a large part of the season. Happily, they have replaced the cams and are up and running again and the eagle pair have been seen working on the nest!

I thought I would bring this over from Breaking News. Just awful.

I am trying to spread the news about this awful situation in Virginia. . . YES, Virginia, again. Blatant disregard for the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. Construction within FOUR feet of the nest tree The nest now hangs over asphalt. The Eagles are beside themselves with the noise and lights. They didn't even bother to install lights that face downwards instead straight out. A lawsuit has been filed ... again, like Norfolk.... what the heck is wrong with Virginia's Fish & Wildlife Huh?? The nest has been there for at least 4 years. This is the FB page:

Virginia Lawyers Weekly picks up the Manassas Bald Eagles case.

By: Peter Vieth November 8, 2016

The lawyer for a concerned bird watcher says a federal official broke the rules when she allowed construction next door to a Manassas park where the eagles are nesting. A lawsuit in Alexandria federal court is aimed at protecting the nest of a family of bald eagles from the aggravation of nearby construction work. The official’s action violated the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, according to the suit filed by David N. Webster II of Herndon. The law makes the eagle a “ward of the National Government” because of its status as an emblem of U.S. sovereignty, Webster wrote.Despite protections required by the law, the suit said there is “ample evidence” the eagles at Cannon Branch Fort Historical Park have been disturbed by grading and construction activity at an adjacent office and warehouse construction site. The suit, filed Nov. 1, claims that an official with the federal Fish and Wildlife Service improperly authorized the construction work.Webster represents Nokesville resident Amber Taylor who has monitored the eagles’ activities at the park. Taylor “derives immense pleasure from observing the Manassas Eagles in person by visiting the nest,” the suit said. The suit asks a federal judge to overturn the FWS approval and require a permit for any additional activities that would disturb the eagle nest.
