I'm so glad E8 continues to do well. It looks like she will be a free eagle before long! :7val:

Thanks for the updates, everybody!

From SWFEC:

See "Vote For Ozzie" in a photography contest link @ the end!!!

Get 'em E8!!! While unfortunate that E8 was injured, it is an amazing opportunity to watch E8 progress and learn during recovery at CROW - Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Inc..
We are turning our posting/comments section back on. We hope everyone had a wonderful summer. October 1 will be here before we know it!
Also, looks like an Ozzie pic is in a photo contest! Vote for this stunning photo here: http://bit.ly/2amQ7f4 :flirty:

You can vote once every 24 hours for Ozzie! :loveshow:

Posted on CROW's FB page approx. 3:15pm, 8-12-16:
E8 UPDATE: E8 has been cleared for release by CROW's veterinary staff and will be returned to the wild in the near future. E8 has been successfully catching rats during live prey testing and continues to improve on the skills needed for catching live fish.

Video of E8's Prey Training.
There's a short paragraph on CROW's FB page (I can't figure out how to post it, keep getting an "error" message.)

I think I solved the problem of not receiving BCAW notifications. My outlook account where notifications are sent was mysteriously deleted. I have set it up again and received this both through outlook which automatically forwards to my gmail account. I am too old for this!

Thank you again, bonbon, for keeping this updated. I now need to find out what else I have missed.

Great news, but it sounds as if she needs more time for fishing!

Where did you see the standings, SWINWK? All I can find is week 1 fan favorite which is, of course, our Ozzie.

EDIT: I just found it. https://weather.com/photos/contest

:sum9: Here is a super update from CROW about E8. He is being readied for release. Woo hoo!

CROW- Clinic for Rehabilitation and Wildlife, Inc.
August 12 at 3:00pm

E8 UPDATE: E8 has been cleared for release by CROW's veterinary staff and will be returned to the wild in the near future. E8 has been successfully catching rats during live prey testing and continues to improve on the skills needed for catching live fish.

E8's stay at CROW was extended to ensure vital hunting skills were effectively developed. In Florida, approximately 80 percent of a bald eagles diet is fish, so this will continue to be the focus for the remainder of the eagles rehabilitation at CROW Clinic.

We will be filming the release and will share all the details at a later date. Thanks for your AMAZING support throughout E8's rehabilitation.

Here's the latest video of E8 catching a live rat.

Great to see E8 in action! CROW - Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Inc. has done an amazing job prepping him/her for the challenges in the wild.
Nest Update: Both Harriet & M15 have been spotted in the area this week. No sticks or material have been brought into the nest but it is still early. We will all remain patient and hopeful!

CROW - Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Inc.

E8 UPDATE: E8 has successfully been catching fish during the remainder of his live prey testing. CROW's veterinary staff is pleased to see that E8 is using both the left and right talon to catch the fish.

E8 is almost 7 months old and the mortality rate for eagles during their first year of life is greater than 50%, but once they have learned to hunt and forage successfully their chances of reaching adulthood are improved. CROW’s Wildlife Rehabilitators and hospital staff have worked diligently to ensure the eaglet has the basic hunting skills needed to survive when returned to the wild.
