Altera has really settled in. She is must more accustomed to the noises of urban life and doesn't spook as easily as before. Mr. T certainly does a lot of hooting through the night. I don't recall this watching the Landings cam, but I understand there is another Great Horned owl nest, a mere mile away from Mr. T and Altera. It is in a similar planter on a balcony, just like the house where Altera is. I understand it is Jeff's partner's house. There is no cam there. The owls will certainly maintain territorial boundaries, but I suspect the males will be hooting a lot to emphasize that. Interestingly, I also don't hear Altera call for food with a screech like I did at Landings. I gather that Mr. T is keeping her well fed.

Thanks for the pic and video Loza! :6snowflake:

:1snowflake: Wow Loza, something flying around really caught her attention last night. If she is going to have a 3rd egg, I would think it would have been last night or today. She is so pretty and appears devoted to this clutch of eggs.

:loveshow: All looking good at OKC. No more eggs. It looks like we have 2 eggs this season, which Altera has been very devoted to since her 1st clutch failed. She does not take many breaks and when she does, they are for a short time. She is much more relaxed with the neighborhood sounds and activity.

:cryinggirl: Looks like Iris gave up on her fake eggs. Poor baby. I'm glad she has Rusty to comfort her. So sweet to see them sleeping together...side by side...during the day.

Altera on incubation duty. We're 2 1/2 wks into incubation and she is very devoted to this 2nd clutch. The neighborhood kids were in the street playing basketball after dark and she just watched them, but was not disturbed. She's become quite accustomed to the local sounds and activity.

Looks like Iris and Rusty may be looking to give it another try...a 2nd clutch. Yesterday, there were a dozen canoodles, Rusty has been offering food, and Iris has been digging in the nest platform. Sounds like they really want to have babies. :cryinggirl:

These two love to sleep side by side during the day.

RE: Iris and Rusty!!

According to FB, Iris has laid egg #1 of the second clutch....AND it looks like she and Rusty will get to raise the babies...(according to FB post)...

"Iris laid her first egg of her second clutch this morning, very shortly after Lilith was chased off for the day. Rusty apparently didn't notice Iris was laying an egg and tried to feed her. Rusty and Iris get to keep and raise their babies this time around!"
