I've had time to distance myself and reflect over the last few days. I personally believe whatever caused B13's death came with him and/or his shell and was not due to any outside sources. From the time his egg was laid till hatch was on the long side, from the very first sign of a pip to hatch was long, from presentation (1st appearance sitting in the half shell) till the shell is completely off was long and his response times to feeds was long @ times ( I remember using the words "sluggish to move", yesterday). There are signs of struggle with all of these things. It makes me think whatever caused his death, unfortunately came with him. These are only meant as my thoughts.

Berry has added a viewing advisory directly onto the screen warning people they will see the deceased body of B13.

Ma and B12 have polished off that newest fish that Pa brought in! B12 is sporting a nice crop and Ma should be too as it looked as if she downed the remainder of the fish with one swallow!! Last feed was about 6:25 on DVR. They were sleeping when I left.

You're welcome you all! At 4:58 Ma is still asleep, but I can hear B12 chirping!! Cam 2 is black for now.
Pa has arrived to a branch @ 7:02 and Ma already standing, begins to feed B12!
At 7:08 Pa drops to the nest ending the feed, Ma flies and Pa tucks B12 and their day starts!!
Ma flys in @ 8:12 and tugs @ fish on nest floor signaling Pa to leave and she feeds B12 before settling in.
Pa returns with fluff @ 1003 and wants to take over, but Ma decides to swallow 1/2 of a fish with tail and then pulls up remainders of squirrel that was partially hidden and decides it's time to feed B12 again. Pa had flown to a limb on the right and later to the left. When Ma flew, he came down to nest and tucked B12!
Ma is on duty, returned @11:59 with even more fluff!
Ma decides it's time to eat again @ 1229 and pulls up hidden stash from nest and feeds B12 yet again!
Pa returns with a fish @1241, then leaves. It hasn't rained this morning, but 1 more system to come in and I think that's it for Rome!

Pa removed B13 from the nest bole and placed prey-side earlier. They have been in and out. Ma brought a branch in and Pa more fluff. She and B12 have been eating more fish and squirrel. B12 now has a humongous crop!! Supposed to rain tonight and then that's it from what I understand. Ma and especially Pa had no problems keeping their family fed during all these rains and better times are coming. B12 gets to meet the sun tomorrow, I hope!! So, just 1 more rainy night Ma! And she is on duty!!

Condolences to all in the loss of B13. I have been perching, but not posting. Dad was finally the one to remove the dead eaglet's body from the nest bowl this afternoon, placing it in the pantry. Once Mom returned, she picked at it, but did not feed it to B12...choosing other leftovers instead. B12 looks good and I agree with Bev,,..despite how sad it is to lose an eaglet, one eaglet will be easier for Mom.

422pm - Dad removing the dead eaglet.

I agree, Swinwk, something just didn't seem right from the very beginning, poor thing.

Thank YOU for such terrific updates and comments!

At 5:33 I found Ma asleep with her head tucked, but she awakens for a sneeze and then re-tucks. She's a little damp @ the tips of her feathers, but quickly drying with the winds. It is not raining now, but sounds "drippy" out there. Hopefully the rains are gone. Cam 2 remains down. There's been a reset and I am unable to go back very far on the DVR, but found her up @ 5:13 to work on the nest bole, shake, re-position, etc. B12 is vocal. Eventually she's back down and notices B13 who's in a different spot from where Pa placed him initially, probably from all the comings and goings earlier this eve. She can reach from the bole now and she lifts him, then releases. She tries to sleep, but up again shortly, then settles. By 5:40 B12 begins to vocalize louder and louder till no one can sleep and she gets her settled quickly and it's back to sleep for all! Breakfast will be soon enough B12, it's a little early yet ...

The circle of life seems completed this morning. It is very windy today. All they really need to do is stand and lift their wings and it's "up up and away"! I saw Pa do 2-3 more feedings and Ma a couple. His feeds are a little shorter than Ma's sometimes, but still! Ma flew in this last time with a fish in her right talon! And she remains on duty as I leave for the afternoon.

:7val: On the DVR, I saw Pa bring in 2 fish and more fluff within about a 2 1/2 hour period. They already had 2, maybe 3 fish on the nest when he started. Also, I saw Ma swallow almost 2 whole, maybe 3 fish during this same period and B12 was fed of course. B12 was sluggish and quieter than normal around 6:30ish and I am hoping this is just a food coma. We don't get to see very many food comas here (think this is my 2nd time) as she usually remains standing and chirping for more when her parents are done feeding and they have to brood her to hush her!! She really gets a lot of meals through out the day here. I did see her lift her head and could hear her chirping some time later. Everyone was tucked when I left. And finally, it seems the winds have died down from what they were earlier in the day, thankfully.
