At 7:11 Pa arrives with a stick. Ma leaves and B12 is not as loud as usual, but raising head. Pa quickly covers and is on duty!

:14val: B12 is not behaving as "her" usual self, nor or Ma and Pa as in ... they are not offering food today. She can raise her head and can chirp, but she is not indicating she wants food as in positioning for intake, beak opening, loud chirping. She is sluggish and quieter. And I believe Ma and Pa are not offering food, because they understand she does not want it @ this time. I even caught Ma "studying" B12 before she began brooding after returning from a break. I believe she was watching for signs of want of food from B12 as she had brought in a fish. Seeing none she brooded. Pa ate some from the fish Ma had brought in @ one point, but never made an attempt to bring it near B12. They definitely know what they are doing. I've tried to find info on a new chicks 1st pellet, but have been unable to do so. Something is different and I am hoping it is related to a normal process. Will continue to monitor. In other thoughts, I have noticed the nest bole is much tighter and built up more on around it's edges. :15heartbeat:

:girlsad3: Ma just came in with another fish and acts as if she is going to feed!! No, she is eating it. She placed it near the nest bole, because not enough room with the other fish still there, I guess. Occasional soft chirp from B12, but no offer to move and head is down. First pellet or not, I have not seen this behavior in past and I am growing very concerned!! I am now afraid we are going to lose B12!! Will continue to monitor!!

Since Ma covered chirps are louder now and B12 has changed positions, but don't know if from Ma's tucking before brooding or if B12 had managed. Previous position I found it with it's head tunneled into the side of the bole. Don't know if new configuration of bole had anything to do with this. But, chirps definitely louder. I remain extremely concerned!!

Berry has removed it's "alert" from the screen and I hope they are monitoring this situation with B12! I am really, really, hoping all will be well with B12!!

:girlsad3: Unfortunately, I have a prior commitment that I can not undo, but I will be within ear range of cam @ intervals. Hoping someone else can come in and monitor this situation over next 3-4 hours. I will update as I can. Ma remains on duty and B12 is chirping quietly @ intervals.

Ma raised just enough to see B12 with raised head, continues to softly chirp!

I began seeing sluggishness from B12 about 6:30 pm yesterday, like Swinwk, and saw no feed after nightfall. I think the last feed was around 5 PM or so. I am currently at work, but able to access the cam and DVR. From 5 AM to the present time, B12 has not eaten. Just like yesterday evening, it is not holding its head up much and when it does, it is not begging for food. Not sure what is going on here. Mom got into position to feed later this morning with a nice fish, but B12 did not keep its head up, so no feed given. This is a long time for a chick not to eat. I fear a bad outcome.

Feb 25
1.30 pm
Eagle peeping loudly
Dad arrived and Mom tried to leave nest bowl.
She stepped on eaglet and covered it with debris
It was silent - then began peeping agian
Mom ate the fish and left, Dad took nest duty
He cleared the debris from baby
Baby never got fed
I cant watch anymore.
Half hour baby peeped loudly, neither parent fed it

I feel bad for mom. I identify with stiff n sore n hard to move!

Pa came in while I was posting above, with some fluff. Ma ate a couple bites of fish then moved toward B12 to give, but B12 is not in a position to receive and eventually she leaves and Pa takes over and broods. Unfortunately, when Ma got off B12 initially, she accidentally tossed some fluff over B12, making visualization difficult. But, my opinion is unchanged. B12 is not moving as you would expect and I remain gravely concerned.

Ma returned @ 1357. B12 tried to propel itself toward the left it seemed, but only left wing is moving and she can lift her head. Can not propel itself. Chat has concern if stuck, but she is in a position that is 180 degrees from earlier this morning. Also, they have concerns if right wing is broke. Whatever is wrong or happened, started after 5:57 pm and before approx 6:30 pm last eve. I reviewed it several times last night and could not see anything. Condition is unchanged with this view.

I had some concern yesterday that Mom may have stepped on the eaglet before 6:30 pm. She had great difficulty getting up from the nest and stumbled while maneuvering herself. Unfortunately, she blocked the view of the eaglet, but it would have been her right talon and unfortunately, cam 2 was not working to give an overhead view. I looked at that short segment on the DVR yesterday evening several times over, but really could not say one way or another. If that is the case, it really would be a shame. I also saw her right talon resting directly over B13 on two occasions after hatch, but could not say if it was enough pressure to cause damage, so I chose not to post about it. Very sad situation for these parents.

Cam 1 down too? I don't think they want people viewing this. What a shame.

Cam back with Ma and Pa. Pa left. Ma eating fish and making attempts to give B12 bites, but B12 can not raise to her level and she can't get down to her. B12 is further covered with fluff making it impossible to see her, but there is some movement and chirps. Berry, I hope has been notified as I believe chat has done this before on other matters. I have checked their site and I do not see anything from them.

I sent them a message, but I'm sure there have been many, many, before me. One on chat has someone there they call personally, but have only caught glimpses of chat.

Nadia we NEED to post notes / observations even when sad.
Twice I've seen her step on her baby.
She cant help it poor thing.
Its not a matter of 'blaming' the parent.

:sorrow:

Berry is sending this to all who have messaged:

Our eagle experts are keeping a close watch on things at the moment. If there is more information later, we will provide an update.

I have no words. some think B12 may be stuck in nest cup . who knows why more straw keeps being put in. BAby was on stomach and lifting its head a bit ago.

you know things happen. ma and pa are great parents. It has been a rough week with all the wet.

I have had my cam up but am not commenting, as I am sure I will Pi-- someone off.

I will trust the parents and hope for the best outcome.
blessings on this nest :7val:
