New Kestrel Nest with Multiple Cams in the Netherlands!

:welcome Here's a big welcome to our newest member, richardoe! He just sent me a PM with a link to his kestrel nest page in the Netherlands. Multiple live cams are focused on the nest, so it should be fun to watch. When I just checked the nest out, the female (I think) was sitting in the nest box.

I'm not sure where in the Netherlands the nest is or if any eggs have been laid yet, but I'm sure we'll find out soon from richardoe.

Here's the link to the new Netherlands nest: http://www.richardoe.nl/torenvalk/

Thanx for the warm welcome.

My cams are situated at home near Groningen in the Netherlands. Last year we have had a nest with 3 youngs flying out.

at http://www.richardoe.nl/torenvalk/high.htm you can find several movie highlights (prey transfers etc.)

at http://www.richardoe.nl/torenvalk/logboek.htm some history from 2009 with pictures. You probably can use google translate if you want to read it all :-)

Status April 13: First eggs are expected any day now. Female is 18-20 hrs per day in the nestbox.

Yes we also have a horse in foal. That foal is expected around mid may. during that few days i need to switch to the horses (at evening/night only) as a kind of controll. So that when the birth alarm goes off we don't need to go to the horse everytime.

I just checked the cam in Groningen, and the cute little kestrel was there!

Image

I also watched some of the kestrel videos in the "Highlights" section of richardoe's Web site. The kestrels here are so cute with their beautiful long tail feathers!

Kestrel cam in Oxfordshire, England...

http://www.kestrelcam.net/live/stream.php

I remember this nest from last year Carbird and it was taken over by
Orly and Yarly - Tawny owls...
This year it is back to Kestrels and they just laid egg #1 today!
