Did egg 4 hatch and #3 still half a chick?

It is beautiful to see Male comfort Female
He stays nearby, checks in on her, feeds her.
He's a keeper for sure. :15heartbeat:

I am completely unfamiliar with this cam.
Is it the first year of this cam?
Is it the first brood of this female?

La Crosse..

I have avoided this cam for days....because of this little chick. It tried so hard to get out of that egg. Its little legs were just a kicking...since I avoided the cam, how did the eggshell come off? Since its head was buried in that half of the shell, it seemed it must have been stuck..possibly to the shell..

It was out like that - dead - when I got up this morning.
I scrolled back. Mom must have pulled shell off, it'd never have made it.
Yes it was hard to watch.

I watched the Alma kids some today. I saw the banded mom twice, she seems pretty good about bringing in prey. I’m noticing how”mellow” this group of chick is. They just hang around the nestbox, some in it, some on the perch and one daring one who got out on the stick….He noticed a shadow that was cast on the wall of the nestbox building. If I were a peregrine chick, I might think I should try to get it as the shadow looked like a rope or a stick. Thankfully he didn’t think so….And there was a whole lot of down picking going on as well…

I took a screen of him fall - fludge
He can fly suffient to flutter into a tree
Parent will guard him

He had been wind surfing for 2 days, flapping, letting the wind flow over his wings
