Thank you Terka for keeping up with this. Has this cam been on all year? I got too busy to check. I saw Andy yesterday and asked him if I could give him money to turn it back on :)

I sent a note to Bryan. He is going to do a falcon run and I asked him to adjust this cam. So sad to see James hasn't been seen, but glad we at least can see what's going on!

I think its been up all year. Sometimes I check to see falcons, but there's no one here. It's off-kilter though.

I'm sorry I didn't get back to you on this before, but JJ was 20 last year (2021), the same age his father James was when he finally disappeared. So I guess we need to identify a new male here :(

Hopefully Bryan is going out soon to fix this cam. There is a new pair at a building in Falls Church Virginia, so he was going to put a new box up. Since it's DC, maybe we can get local support for a cam. The birders are watching the pair every day. They wintered there and stayed.

Also, I need to check and see, did they ID the female?

This is so weird. I keep checking the cam..hoping it is live..Sometimes when I click on the eagles, for a nano second I get this. No clue how old this pic is...or if they periodically check the cam to see if anybody is home...

It's disappointing that we don't have a cam here. :girlsad3:

There is a cam that works. The guy who set it up has another cam in Richmond, an Osprey cam. They were broadcasting together in prior years, but somehow when they turned the osprey cam on the Falcon cam went off. I just asked him to check and see what’s going on last week, I will follow up.
Bryan is doing first rounds on all the falcons. There are no eggs here but a pair is present.

Bryan checked the nest today.
Female was incubating 4 eggs. She is the same single-banded bird. She is a very attentive and aggressive bird. The new male appears to be unbanded

Bryan Watts banded 3 healthy chicks. He sent pics to Barb, who sent pics to me..(I'm posting before getting her permission..hee hee...I'll ask for forgiveness if the answer is "no")

Band numbers: (Some band numbers and genders are just guesses)

F: b/g 32/BK
F: (presumed) b/g 4?/BK
M: banded upside down g/b 59/BN (the 9 was clear as was the N)...I'll post enlarged pics of the bands later for everyone to take a guess.

Image

Presumed male in the middle, but they all look the same size to me. Ironically the only one with a clear band, b/g 32/BK (far right), is a band I didn't need.

Image

Robby (I think) who helped Bryan and chick
