:eggthumb: Thanks, catwoman. Dad was just offscreen doing some kak-kak and left abruptly. Shortly, she did a low key version a couple of times while remaining over the chicks and it seemed as if she was trying to get a response from him, not that she saw anything. In a bit she went to the lip and looked around and stretched and I thought she was going to go out to see if she could see anything of what is going on, but suddenly one of the chicks screamed out and she turned to look at it, then went back in to brood.

:eggthumb: Came in on a feed well in progress. And over before I could see anything. Mom is brooding now. They are getting more frequent feed opportunities today.

:loveheart2: Mom off the nest and Dad to the lip. He kaks at 3:35 and leaves. Then returns at 3:36. And leaves in the same minute. Dad returns to the lip at 3:49 and is looking around. At 3:52, down to the floor of the balcony, I think he is tracking an insect. Dad is out of sight, but calling softly for Mom I think. Back to the lip at 3:54.

Mom vocals at 3:06 and she returns to the nest and Dad leaves. At 3:07, the chicks are very noisy and Mom leaves. Dad back to lip at 3:08. He left at 3:10. Thought I heard trailing distant kaks at 3:12.

Mom returns at 3:21 with prey. She defeathers. She has the bird just behind the lip and is standing on top of it which is lifting her to a higher elevation than normal to feed from. She took several bites and there seems to be more difficulty than usual to tear off pieces. She is working from the head of the bird.

Feed in progress. It was blocked and I was only able to see one chick get one bite. Feed over at 3:38 and Mom left with the remains. One was still crying for bites and I think it was chick 4, but soon settled. Mom returns at 3:43 and is panting heavily and you can hear her pants actually. She stands over them to brood.

:eggthumb: Mom left the nest and back to feed. It was a partially blocked feed, but eventually could tell all received bites including Mom. I was only able to catch chick 4 receive 1 bite when it was in my view, so could have received more that I didn't see. Chick 4 continued to cry for bites after Mom left which is customary, but soon settled with the rest of them. Mom broods on her return and all are quiet.

:5val: Thanks, catwoman! There was a feed well in progress at 8:12 pm that I was unable to monitor. This was the latest I have seen them feed in the day to date and was mildly surprised, also there were more feedings overall today. Sally, I bet it was Mom. If you can see her from the front or either side, she has a lightly speckled neck/crop area that can be seen. Dad does not have this. That's what I look for if I'm trying to decide.

Wish I could figure out how to post these on the correct day....and wish the Archives weren't behind.

From the 5/1 Archives...and probably out of order.

:eggthumb: Thanks, sky! Feed in progress! Came in on it and didn't see it as it was blocked, but it sure sounded great. Over by 10:37 and Mom didn't take away any remains, so must of consumed most or all of it. They were noticeably "quiet" immediately when over, so all must be satisfied!

:loveheart2: Heard chicks softly crying. Came in and it looked to be Dad standing on the lip with his back to us on guard duty, then he left. Mom returned and the chicks are crying for food, so she left and probably will return with some. Mom returned at 12:14 without food and broods. They are quiet.

:loveheart2: Feed in progress! All got bites including Mom. Chick 4 did not receive as much as the others. It was at the back of the pile initially, then made it to a good place and received 4 bites, but fell forward with 2 of them and could not see if swallowed or not. Next its head was caught in the center of the chick pile, it finally made it out, but was unable to get its beak up high enough from the back of the pile to be noticed. Mom left with remains at 1:23, turned around and came right back in with, then left with remains again. Mom returned to brood at 1:25 real time and all chicks are quiet.

I far as I saw during the feed, everybody got their fair share and nice-sized crops from what I saw. SWINWK, I'd be interested in your take on the feed! :CLAPS:

:loveheart: Thanks, catwoman. See my take on the feed above you. I always come out and post feed in progress, so any that may notice and be interested in seeing feed and/or get captures can do so. Then I go back in and then come out and add to the post in increments as I can and keep doing this till it is over. So, if you see "Feed in progress!" There is usually more to keep coming till I finally post she broods.

:eggthumb: Feed in progress! It was mainly a blocked feed with the exception of 1 chick in view who received many bites and did have a crop. I could see another crop on a different chick, but could not see its head. Chick 4 was in view for a short period, but did not receive any bites during that time and kept falling forward. When the feed was over, Mom took the remains to the right side of the pile and seemed to be going to eat herself.

:10sum: However, chick 4 was screaming bloody murder and she very much noticed, so she started giving it bites and 1 of the other chicks woke up and got bites, but she took the remains to the left side of the pile and continued to feed chick 4 and the other one too. Chick 4 continued to scream for its bites and I saw it get at least 6-7. When over I had trouble finding chick 4, because they all were in food comas and 4's head was covered in the pile, but it was screaming no longer.

Mom left at 3:03 real time with the remains and Dad in a minute later for clean up and to guard. He left at 3:06. Mom returned to the lip at 3:11, then down to brood in the next minute. All is well!

:eggthumb: Feed in progress! Strange feed, only 1 head up at 1st, then 2-3. One of the older chicks was down in the center of the chick pile and didn't really make much effort to get up till towards the end, then it got several bites. I saw chick 4 get at least 14 bites as it was 1 in 3 being fed instead of 1 in 4 being fed for most of the feed. And it possibly received more than that as it was partially a blocked feed at times. All had crops by the end including chick 4 with its split-feathered crop for all to see! Mom left at 7:57, but with no remains. She returned at 7:58 and broods. All are quiet and satisfied!

:loveheart2: It's one of those nights you can see in the nest after lights out, at least for now. Mom's brooding her chicks. All is quiet.
