They are panning cam looking for Blue and not seen. May have fledged or went around the bend. Found him! Panting and atop the parapet!

As I quit posting, White remains on the lip of the nest box and the girls are still hiding at the back of the nest. Will try to post VDWR's summary of day's events tonight.

:dancegirl: Catwoman, I'm not sure if that is Blue as all 4 had apparently fledged by the time you took that capture. May try to post later what I saw or just wait for their summary. Blue and Yellow were accidental fledges and White and Red right after they left the nest, the cam found them in partial view on the parapet, but instead of moving the cam to the right where we could have a full view, they went left and counterclockwise across the building, nest and then back to the parapet and both were gone. Yet later when they went to the building the fledge is currently on, they did move the cam to the right. Don't know if they can't go right in a tight view, but can in a wide view??? So out of the nest the order was Blue, White, Yellow, Red. But fledge order may have been Blue, White, Red, Yellow...I'm out.

Hoping all 4 made it to safety!!

Well, this one hasn't fledged or fledged and came back to the pen.

Yes to all you are saying, catwoman. Or another possibility could be rescued and placed back in pen I guess. I can clearly see my "boo" yellow in the pen right now. So as I can't seem to get things right even though I took the time to watch all this unfold this morning, I will go ahead and post what I did see shortly and it may explain the confusion. Otherwise, I'll leave it to those who weren't here to figure it out if they like, then wait to see what VDWR says happened.

Never let it be said that I don't appreciate all you do for the group. I just happened along and took some captures that's all. Your comment about being put back in the pen is what I suspect. She's still lying there. She thinks flying is for the birds, anyway, apparently! :teehee:

Now they switched the cam view from the chick in the pen to one on the ledge?
:girlcrazy:

She was laying in front of the nestbox.

To see what happened with Blue, see my posts beginning @10:10 EDST above. White flew out of the nest @ 10:24 after having climbed up the side of the pen to the roof and dropping down. The cam found him flapping away on the parapet and almost slipping off the wrong side several times. He went just out of view to the right and the cam pans to the left and all the way around counterclockwise passing the building, the nest with the girls remaining in the back of it, then to the point on the parapet where we last saw him, but he is not in sight and I assume it's a possible accidental fledge or fledge in those seconds. Don't know why they swung all the way around like that instead of pulling slightly to the right. They made no further effort to search for him on the parapet nor the balcony floor and I assumed they have some contact with the ground crew and know that White has fledged in some manner.

At 1:06, Yellow stepped out of the pen and was flapping her wings. Then at 1:09, she walked around that 1st bend and out of view. Red was alerting in the pen. Next at 1:10 after the cam had been panning trying to find Yellow I see her (or assume it is her) up on the parapet just to the left of the 4th bend over. She is bobbing her head and looking out over the city while flapping her wings. She almost slips off and the wing flapping pushes her back along the parapet to the point of the 4th bend. At 1:14, a parent/s can be seen doing flybys possibly encouraging her to fly?

At 1:17 the cam pans back to the nest and Red is gone. Then at 1:18 as the cam pans looking for Red, we catch a very partial view of who you would assume is Red up on the parapet, but to the right and closer to the nest and may have fledged as we see a bird flying toward Yellow from this angle and out of view. The cam never moved to the right to see what Red was doing. At 1:23 a parent flew up over where Yellow was trying to encourage her to fly. At 1:24 Yellow slips down and we have an accidental fledge.

Now the cam goes back to the nest counterclockwise maybe trying to find Red or view of city...who knows? At 1:29 we have a view of the Virginia Lottery building in the distance and I saw a parent flying. At 1:30 the cam tilts to the right and closes in on the Towne Bank building and I assume that is a fledgling on top there that is wing flapping juvie style. So the cam can move to the right at least for a wide view, but maybe they can not pan right for a tight view needed to see things close up on the parapet, I just don't know.

Things to consider...was that Yellow near the 4th bend or actually Red who at some point had left the nest, but I didn't know at that point. And maybe Yellow who earlier had disappeared around the 1st bend while on the balcony floor never got up on the parapet, but remained on the floor till eventually going back to the nest as we see her in catwoman's capture. And was that Red up on the parapet in a very partial view that disappeared or simply a parent who had landed there and flew out. Or did they all fledge either accidental or purposefully as previously described and Yellow was rescued and placed back at the nest? I don't know, but will wait for VDWR's report tonight.

As I leave, I see Yellow up on the parapet next to the building beside the pen. Sure hope she stays put this evening...

:15heartbeat: Accidental fledge (Edit to add: not really a fledge, as she had actually fledged earlier today) by Yellow at 8:20 pm real time. It was a slip off as she was scratching her head or beak or something while standing on 1 leg cleaning up after eating and she slipped backwards off the parapet!! She was in the same spot as she had been eating next to the building by the pen. Don't know if DWR is still on the ground watching, but I sure hope so... My Boo!! :girlsad3:

:15heartbeat: So we have todays report now. I do not normally do this, but my original reports on what I saw were spot on as far as what could be seen from the cam view. The only thing I take exception with in their report is they do not mention that Yellow slipped down and it was an accidental fledge at 1:24 pm. Whoever wrote this up may not have been aware, but whoever was operating the cam, I think would have seen this. Trust me, Yellow slipped and fledged accidentally at 1:24 pm and again at 8:20 pm, although the 8:20 pm slip from the ledge is not a fledge, but an unintentional slip nonetheless. Unfortunately, the DWR staff was no longer downtown and it is not known where or how she is. I hope she is safe and uninjured wherever she ended up as I hope all the others remain safe through the night in their locations. Hoping tomorrow we get good news on all 4 at the end of the day, but know it will be a very LONG day and WAIT!

Report from the VDWR on today's events:

The cam is focused on the Towne Bank building and I do not see anybody perched on the rooflines nor signage at this time. Hope they have found them all safe and sound this morning or will find. :5val:
