Six days ago this young one was brought in as prey to the GROWL eagle nest to feed Junior, however that didn't happen and now both Mom and Dad are feeding it. Junior has done some pecking and usually gets first dibs on food, but I think the pecking has eased some. It has been id'd as an eaglet, gull, peregrine before they finally went with hawk. The cam view is not always crisp:

first saw egg shell pulled out 11:35 pm june10( more was pulled out in early morning at about 2:40 am)
so will call hatch at 2:40am june 11

Some very sad news to report from Facebook. :tissue:

Tom passed away yesterday...in the box. Unknown reasons. They will not be retrieving the body for fear of forcing a fledge from the other 3. For now, the cam has been turned off.

oh my, so sad. I just checked in other day and all was well. just did not get around to posting picture. One of my favorite sites. I am so bummed that I have not been able to follow up on my favorite sites. ( life is just a whirlwind for me right now)

The 4 Ufa-Ural chicks were banded yesterday, No gender was mentioned but I think we have 2 females and 2 males.

i am just home and when female came in to relieve it was hard to tell. saw one newer pinky for sure. female was eating some shell

One of the chicks fell out of the box about 3 hrs and 45 minutes ago. The cam operator was right on it and started a search immediately...no update yet that I could find..but will keep looking..
