Heard a weatherman say Ian is as wide as the state of Indiana is long. Unfortunately Ian will be a cat4 @ landfall and that landfall is now projected at this point in time to be at the juncture of Lee and Charlotte counties in Florida. Harriet and M15's nest is in North Fort Meyers that is in the northern most portion of Lee County whose northern boundary is Charlotte County. Also, CROW is on Sanibel Island near Fort Meyers and I'm sure they have already evacuated their wildlife patients and students. The Captiva Eagle Nest is on Captiva Island that is north of Sanibel that is near Fort Meyers. I can't remember exactly, but the Eagle Country nest may be near Sarasota near a large state park. While Samson and Gabby's nest in NEFL was initially to have Ian drag through it, now it is expected to go out in the Atlantic and while they will have effects at least it may not be a direct hit now.

Nest tree of Harriet and M15 still standing @ SWFL, however the nest and cam are gone. No word on the eagles as yet.

The nest tree and cam did go down at Eagle Country. There is no word on Abby and Blaze as yet. They will not stream live this season.

Friends of EC,
Many or most of you are probably aware of Hurricane Ian (now Tropical Storm Ian) that is still passing through FL and moving north. We were certainly in that path and have come through the hurricane.
We want to let you know that the nest tree/cam did go down in the storm. We are saddened to learn this and hope that the Abby & Blaze are safe. We are still assessing damage to our networking equipment. This does mean that EC will not be able to stream live this season.
Thank you to all Friends of EC for understanding. If we have a sighting of Abby or Blaze and are able to capture any still shots, we will do our best to post for you.

The nest tree is still standing and the nest appears to be intact per the ground crew at NEFL. There are some uprooted trees and a lot of standing water. They are awaiting the return of Samson and Gabby. The cam is still down and I'm hoping it is d/t the power outage in the area.

We are cautiously optimistic! Ground crew was able to get to the Hamlet to check out the nest tree and nest. While there are some uprooted trees and a lot of standing water, the nest appears to be intact and the nest tree held on strong through the storm. It is truly a fortress and we are certainly blessed. Now we wait for Samson and Gabrielle to return. Samson will be in his glory with all the new sticks close at hand! 09/29/22

And from the SWFL nest of Harriet and M15, some good news at least. (Initially it was reported that the nest cam was gone, but in reviewing photos they realized it may still be there. One report from them even indicated all the cams were gone.)

Essec09 (Admin): UPDATE for 9/29/2022 7:35pm: We are happy to share that all cameras are accounted for - Camera 1 (nest tree), Camera 2 and Camera 3 (pond cam). Unfortunately, the tree that Camera 3 was installed (pond cam) fell. The camera is still attached and appears to not have any obvious damage. There are a few others trees down near the pond. There was some damage to the storage barns (roofs, doors and they took in lots of water).

Still waiting for a sighting by one of the ground crew, however a resident confirmed a sighting of Samson and Gabby on the nest earlier today and it seems to be enough for Gretchen! Welcome back Samson and Gabby!! Go to site to see Gretchen's response at NEFL.

BBL: Am reading reports and seeing pics of Jackie and Shadow at Big Bear building a nest on a different tree. The folks there just finished up on their > $10,000 worth of cam upgrades and maintenance this past Friday at the old nest, I believe. I know sometimes eagles build a 2nd nest, but continue to use the old, so we'll have to wait and see.
