Anybody recognize this nest?

City of Comines-Warneton in Belgium

There are 3 eggs

Apparently there is a jackdaw nest above it...frequent buzzing off the ledge. Falcon in the box doesn't seem fazed!!

:15heartbeat:Yikes, now the California Condors in Arizonia and Utah are contracting avian flu. This and the continued battle against lead toxicity does not bode well for a bird population that has only a little over 500 (this number includes those in captivity) members left on this earth. Excerpt from "The Peregrine Fund" asking for emergency support: https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/23 ... b14865.jpg

:sorrow: 18 California Condors now deceased in the Southwest Condor population.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
19h ·
Due to the recent identification of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in the free-flying California condor population in Arizona-Utah, we're now considering all condor deaths in this flock to be attributed to HPAI. Until further notice, we will report all deceased condors in the Southwest Flock found on or after March 30, 2023, as "suspect HPAI." As results are confirmed at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Veterinary Service Laboratory, we will confirm the suspect case and report them as "confirmed HPAI." We are operating in this manner to be as transparent as possible to the public and stakeholders. As of April 12, 2023, 12 condors have died "suspect HPAI" and six condors have died "confirmed HPAI," for a total of 18 condors. Three condors died after being brought in for care and are included in the total of 18. Five condors are currently receiving supportive care and undergoing testing for HPAI.
Although the Southwest condor population spans Arizona and Utah, HPAI detection is limited to birds found in Arizona at this time.

Excerpt a few days ago from Ventana Wildlife Society on what they are doing in current situation for the Central California population:

Wildlife Currently Being Affected in Monterey County
HPAI cases affecting turkey vultures, snowy plovers, and several species of waterfowl were documented in Monterey County this year, dangerously close to the free-flying condor flock in central California. HPAI is now all around us, so it is not a matter of if but when an outbreak will occur.

What We Are Doing to Prepare
Our condor crew has been following strict safety protocols when handling condors since before the disease was found to occur in central California and have made preparations for quarantine and treatment through partners. Though a vaccine does exist, it is currently unavailable in the U.S. and the timeline for its availability is unknown. Therefore, we must construct temporary quarantine pens and provide additional veterinary support so that we can be even more prepared. These quarantine sites will allow for infected birds to receive supportive care in an environment that is removed from zoos, domestic poultry, and the free-flying condor population, thus helping to mitigate the spread of this devastating disease while infected condors receive medical treatment. Additionally, quarantine pens will be used to vaccinate the wild flock when the vaccine is available.

Murphy the dad Eagle update...from Facebook

World Bird Sanctuary...

Wow everyone!
We are absolutely blown away by the support being shown for Murphy and eaglet 23-126 through our fundraiser and Amazon baby registry. We wanted to take a moment to address the topic of camera footage of these two.
We know that everyone would love a live stream camera to watch them on. We just don’t have the bandwidth to support a live stream - and we’ve tried everything, please believe us. We would need a fiber cable run, and no other businesses are out here with us to make it feasible.
However, we know how much this story means to all of you, and how heartwarming it would be to get to watch them.
We are looking at ways to get regular video footage for you to enjoy without disturbing the eagles. Supplies have been ordered and are on their way.
We’ll still have to test them out and make sure they work where we will need to put them, but know that WBS is committed to getting all of you regular footage of Murphy and his baby.
We will NOT be officially naming the eaglet due to our regular rules. Rehab superstition is strong. But you are all welcome to call him/her what you’d like!
We’re not SUPERstitious, we’re just a little stitious.
