Evanston- The 3 eggs have been left alone for 1 hour, 58 minutes just now….parent still not back. I pulled back the timeline to see why she left the eggs. There was just city noises, nothing loud. But when she got off the nest she seemed to be looking for her mate.

Some sad news from Sinnissippi Audubon Facebook page. One of Brian and Louise’s eyases has died due to the unpredictable weather making it difficult for the parents to keep their eyases warm. The male has already removed the eyases body…

A mini miracle occurred at Rockford- an eyas died yesterday due to the uncooperative weather…BUT this morning a new eyas hatched!

Gotta try and figure out when..and what might be going on. I think they are missing an egg.

edit to add pic. From the blog, 5/14 hatch. Early footage from dVR this morning, looked like Mom was eating contents from one of the eggs...thus the missing egg. Gonna try very hard to have confidence in these parents. Their nest failed last year. Don't know the reason.

Egg may not have been viable, or chick dead. At Bell our male, 2 years in a row, carried egg from nest with contents showing. Some eat it there, some take off nest . Fingers crossed.

that was my thought, Bev....as long as those eggs had been unattended early on...I was happy to see a hatch.
