:flirty: Murphy was to be returned to his previous home prior to fostering 126, today on Father's Day. Eagle 208 has taken over for Murphy with 126 for flight school.

Very sad to report that Salt Lake City has lost one of the fledglings. Probably the female. She fledged yesterday...and unfortunately on her second flight, she hit a window and didn't survive. :sorrow:

The Hungary Eurasian Hobby appears to be incubating. Eggs? Practicing? No clue, because no DVR. (This is the cutie that takes over the Hungary Saker Nest..)

I have to leave soon...If anybody wants to try and figure it out, here's the link:

At the Jacques-Cartier bridge in Montréal, all babies peregrine died, apparently as the result of an heavy disturbance by a female from last year. But surprisingly the adults are still showing sign of incubation more than 1 month after the first feeding was observed. A second clutch seems unlikely because the failure happened as the babies were already 1 week old; moreover the immature showed no sign of interest for incubating when she was at the nestbox and an adult left the nest so it does not appear that she added her own eggs. Therefore the only possibility seems that the pair is still incubating an egg from the first clutch that did not hatch. Does somebody know what is the longest duration for the incubation of an egg before they give up ? Thanks in advance for your feedback, either private or public.

Sphinx5...that is so incredibly sad..It has been terrible in several places this year.

I think a nest in New York is about to break the record for incubation..(I doubt she laid a second clutch)...her 4th egg was laid on March 29th.

Thankfully, the pair at Toledo, Ohio..has finally given up. The female in Omaha is still periodically incubating her eggs. (4th egg laid there was on April 15)

The pair at the North Omaha nest lost all their chicks soon after hatch..they periodically still display incubating behaviors..though there are no eggs/chicks in the nest. I kept hoping they would reclutch, but so far...they haven't. Very rare, but it can happen.

so very sad...

Hobby-female took over the nest with 1 abandoned Saker egg and laid 1 egg till now!
Egg laying date unknown, ~ between 21 to 23 June they say on Looduskalender forum:

thanks for the info on the hobbies, Ferenz...and for the link to their forum!! Gosh..I hope the Hobbies have better luck than the Sakers

...and the info on the bands, Beth. I think "service bands" mean federal bands to us...usually silver on the right leg. Interesting that the one chick didn't get a colored band...so, based on those numbers..its either 3 females and 1 male..or 3 males and 1 female...Maybe they didn't have a 90 or 93/CD or maybe the chick had a "boo-boo" on its left leg.
