Misericordia

may have hatch, no t sure. female was eating n food inside but because of sticks left over from ravens nest, cannot see of she was feeding anything. could be just like Scotford last few days
just leaving to try and catch an exchange
have been going the last week and so far have not seen exchange with food going into nest

Peter and I just home from the Miscercordia and I can report at least one hatch. We got what we were waiting for .
the male came with prey to the cross on hospital. the female came out of box and flew to other side of cross. Male flew to box but did not go in. After a minute, female picked up prey and flew ti into box. male flew back to cross
Peter scoped it and saw feeding motions. Hard with twigs at box entrance but it was definitely feeding .
after about 8 minutes female flew to North west corner of hospital with a wee bit of prey. she then flew to west Ed . Male then flew to box an din.
just as we were leaving, female flew back on cross and preened.

so at least one hatch maybe more
a good parameter fo r us with banding.

I'm not sure if I should feel bad, sad, or happy for Radisson...wonder if she is missing having babies....or maybe at her age, just content!!

Peter rand I went to watch RAdisson but youngster was at box. We stayed as long as we could. plan on going back this weekend. my time is limited
I am a bit concerned about Radisson . sh e is17 and last few days, she lies down a lot in box. she also acts as laying an egg and scrapes. I think she is either egg bound or just t going through the paces , that she knows she should be doing. maybe she lies down as she knows she should be incubating or covering chicks maybe sh e is tired.
She has been a part of me since 2008 bu t born 2006.

The Bell chicks were banded yesterday. There were 2 males and 2 females. Three were chosen for the Pembina to fledge and one male will stay with the adults. This site has a very low fledge success rate, with the young meeting there demise flying into buildings or landing on the ground and succumbing to traffic.


The ACA has posted on their site a write up that is helpful. Alberta’s Peregrines are still in the recovery phase. This involves a lot of monitoring and occasional intervention with the ultimate goal of increasing the number of falcons able to migrate and return to nesting in the wild where they once flourished. Every decision made is a careful risk assessment taking all factors including the site into account.
