In terms of heat...I wonder if it would help to put holes/vents on these boxes? I know that all of my bluebird boxes have either high up holes or slits under the roof line. Of course, BB boxes are enclosed..and the slits help with cross ventilation...and heat escape.

12:01- young male went over to platform. will post video later
I was thrilled but at 12 :30 . he was by opening and adult female came in with prey, he was hungry and popped up at opening and grabbed prey but fell over the front. I have capital power out there looking. He would not fly with prey but may have glided to a low roof. fingers crossed.
nothing is right this season

July 16
Peter and I went out Friday July 14. We think we spotted young male on low roof. Security went out and saw nothing on ground. They checked quite an extensive area.
It has been very smoky so it was hard to get clear vies, but Peter is quite confident, he saw through scope. I saw same through binoculars . So fingers crossed. We tried taking pictures but smoky haze covered pictures.
We saw adult female fly in and she perched on cable to left of box entrance , out of view of kids .
We also saw adult male flying in area where we think youngster is,
We hope to get out today, before others fly and check again. We were out during snoozy time so we will try after 3pm

11:33- number went to platform again

Thanks for trying, Bev...Smoke has reached GA today...we had been spared for a while...but not today..

Anyway...I found this extremely interesting..happened a little while ago. (currently 3:44 pm eastern)

I guess they thought their sibling flying up was a parent? These were not "we're so happy to see you" screams...LOL More like "where's the food"...They've settled down now.

Yes v, she fell off last night when mom brought food to stringer. She and been in and out on catwalk, was hungry, and triedto get in left side, but female there.
And she fell out.
We had been out there for 3 hours and just got home
We went out at 10 pm to do rescue as they found her on ground , behind stack. She was moving all over. I notified Gord, had someone in city ready to examine. When we got there , she had just flown from d Irtysh pile onto roof of a lower building by stack. She tucked in and was not accessible.
So we watched her for a bit and got home at midnight.

Very tired but was so happy to see her fly up. Hopefully stays put, as storm rolling in.

One came back in evening. Dropped down on roof, then platform, and back to box, It spent the night, and left at pond 6 am. Would sure like to see the there’s drop by. They should have been capable of flying to a roof.
It is hard for me , to not be able to go out and check on them
Sorry, no photos but can’t get to computer. Am on ipad

EmyrUld sent me message.
One female spent night in box,( came in anfter midnight) and another came in on left rail when adult female was feeding one at box.at 5am It just complained but stayed on rail. Adult left and one on rail went to roof , where it stayed. It eventually flew back to left rail and must be gone . Other female lay in box and left around 7am
Emyrauld eagle eyes have P58 in box .
Will probably get bands from nest sites , in August. Banded is very busy right now

Note:
Peter was called Thursday June 20 and had to go out and rescue female number 3 . P49. . Peter had to climb a coal pile to rescue it. He did see the other 2 females perched when he was out there but was busy, rescuing.
So Peter brought her home. I had been waiting for a call as P49 , jumped out of box. She was not ready and had lots of fluff.
So Gord picked her up yesterday and he will take her to his place, and feed her and get her flight ready.
She will go to our hack site with the 3 from NUTRIEN. Although some don’t approve, this is the best thing for these young. P49 would just go out again and with all the work being done out there, possibly get injured.
I do wish you could all come out to our hack site and just experience what we see. We have the best of the best out there monitoring them. There would no longer be questions in your mind.
