Thank you, Tsusan. That's a relief to know that they're all ok! :eggclap:

:loveheart: I just saw another toddle out of sight… Just one left in the nest box- large female with very little white left. Will she be taking “an explore” soon also?

:loveshow: Well, I saw all 4 this morning, but since then it has been a free for all! Just now I’ve been watching one taxi up and down the buttress/ wall beside the nest box that about 10 years ago was called “Roosevelt’s Wall” because the resident male at the Time, “Roosevelt” was often seen perched on that wall. I’ve seen 3 hop- flapping along that wall. One zipped along the top of the wall and went out of sight. And didn’t reappear! Finally, after 30 seconds or so, he went hot Rodding along the other wall.LOL As one was sitting on that wall near the nestbox, he made a lovely floaty flight from the top of the wall to the rail near the nest box. Getting braver!

:loveheart: Hmm- it appears that only two chicks slept in the nest box last night. I caught glimpses of their bands, one had a 3 as the first digit, and the other had a 4. One appears bigger than the other, so would they be River, Cindy or Storm? After a while they were both cavorting along the wall in the background. One especially was flapping their wings like crazy.

I have no idea where they are now, but all 4 started the day in view. You could only see a flapping wing where the arrow is.

I have spotted 3 chicks playing up on the wall behind the nest box. Do you suppose “Tom the Adventurer” has fledged? :loveheart:

I saw a juvie fly a land on "Roosevelt's wall". The reason I think it's a juvie and not an adult, is because adults don't expend that much energy normally. Then he/she took off.

Such sad news to share from our Soarin' Hawk FB page......Holding that beautiful bird in my hand as I picked him up from the ground was just too much for me....I am completely devasted and heartbroken

It is with great sadness that I inform you, that shortly after I made the end of the season post, we received a call that one of the falcon chicks was found in the middle of Calhoun Street, right in front of the Indiana Michigan building. When I arrived, the caller had moved the chick to the sidewalk and when I bent down, I could see the band number was U37 which was Tom. Tom was named after Fort Wayne's beloved long-time mayor who passed away earlier this year.

I am completely devastated to share this news with all of you. He will be taken to Soarin' hawk to be examined by our ICU staff to see if we can tell what might have happened to him. As a side note, our founder, Bob, was down for our board meeting at one of the neighboring buildings and was watching the chicks, along with Moxie and Jamie soaring around the Indiana Michigan building and landing on the ledges. Did Tom strike the building or was perhaps hit by a vehicle? We likely will never know but I will share our findings, if any, with you.

Fly high, Tom (U37)
